Boko Haram: Northern traditional rulers meet Jonathan in Abuja
President Goodluck Jonathan, Thursday, met with traditional rulers from the northern part of the country to deliberate on how to stop the endless killing in the region.
The monarchs were led by Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III to the meeting, which started at 9:25 pm in the First Lady’s Conference Room.
Present at the meeting were: Vice President, Namadi Sambo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, Presidential aides and 13 members of the traditional rulers’ council from each of the northern states.
Earlier on Wednesday, the traditional rulers had met in Kaduna where they discussed the Boko Haram crisis in the northeast and other parts of the region.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Sultan pledged to table the opinion and observations of the northern monarchs to the President and as well find a possible solution to the insurgency currently tearing the region apart. So let us pray the meeting brings out good fruit
