The Yar’ Adua Centre Axis of the Federal Capital territory, FCT has been permanently blocked by security agents and traffic officers, as the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar begins the declaration of his 2015 presidential ambition.
A brief visit to the venue and all its surroundings by DailyPost reporter revealed the horrific traffic hold-up created by the security agents who were seen turning back workers plying that route to their offices. Most of the workers who have no alternative routes to access their offices were however left stranded, making phone calls to alert their superiors about the development.
Most staff of Rhythm Fm and others working within the Silverbird gallery could not have access to their offices and were forcefully turned back.
Workers that spoke with DailyPost on the development expressed great bitterness over the development. A staff of Rhythm FM told our reporter that it was highly irresponsible for anyone to block a major entrance and exit to an office environment without prior knowledge. She said ‘’ So, what do they expect us to do now? Do they want us to return to our houses?’’ The female presenter queried.
Another worker who was heading to Edo House lamented that she was going for a meeting which was to start by 8am. She said going by the development, she would be returning to his house as there was no hope of catching up with the meeting. ‘’ I don’t think we can even get there before the meeting is over. Why should Atiku’s declaration spoil things for Abuja residents? ‘’ She asked rhetorically.
A staff of the Ministry of Finance simply identified as Theresa blamed the Development Control for creating a single entry and exit within the axis. She said ‘’ I think the Development Control should look beyond what they are doing in Abuja now and be proactive in the creation of alternative route in the FCT. If anything happens here now, we will all be trapped as there are no alternative routes within this axis. Abuja is too big for this jor.’’
A taxi driver, simply identified as John Ogbodo said the Yar Adua Centre was obviously too small for the person of Atiku Abubakar’s presidential declaration. ‘’ Why not use ICC or This Day Dome? It makes no sense to me,’’ he said.
DailyPost observed that many vehicles that were turned back jammed with other vehicles, causing a heavy gridlock.
Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar is currently declaring his 2015 presidential ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at The Yar’ Adua Center, Abuja.
We  recalls that the presidential bid by the former vice-president got a boost yesterday with the endorsement of his candidacy by the South-west arm of the APC.
