APC National leader, Bola Tinubu, reacts to claims that he is sick

Former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu, has asked Nigerians to ignore rumors that he is sick.

Tinubu who is aspiring to become President in 2023, said this while speaking at the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, on Friday, February 26.

Speaking on insinuations that he was unhealthy thus ineligible to contest for the post of president, Tinubu said the work of president he has applied for was not bricklaying, race running, or grave digging, but the one that requires the use of brain and intelligence.

“I have the brain and the capacity. If you hear them saying, he is sick, I didn’t apply for the job of race running. I didn’t apply for the job of bricklaying. I went to school to study Accountancy and Management.

I didn’t apply for a job of a gravedigger. I have applied for a job of brain and intelligence, focus thinking. The job I want to do for Nigeria is for Nigeria to be greater and be proud of itself, our children, and we leave a legacy of success, unlimited success for our great, great children.”he said

KINGSLEY WHY NA ? Nigerian man sentenced in South Africa for scamming the public of N43m through fake Lotto message

Nigerian man sentenced in South Africa for scamming the public of N43m through fake Lotto message

The Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court has sentenced a Nigerian man, Kingsley Osunde to three years’ direct imprisonment and an additional two years’ imprisonment wholly suspended for five years for scamming the public of approximately R1.6 million through fictitious Lotto winnings messages.

According to Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, a woman, whose identity was withheld, received an SMS telling her she had won R750,000 from the lottery.

She then received another message instructing her to deposit money into Osunde’s bank account for a “clearance certificate” to release the money.

When the woman realised that the “lottery” money she had won was not coming, she reported the case to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Johannesburg for further investigation.

Investigations revealed that Osunde received about R467,000 through different transactions into his bank account between May and July 2016.

Osunde was arrested was arrested in August 2021 at Hillbrow. During his court appearance, the investigation team successfully opposed bail and he was remanded in custody, said Mulamu.

Further investigation revealed that Osunde did not possess legal documents for citizenship in South Africa.

Osunde was found guilty on a count of money laundering on Section 6 of Prevention of Organised Crime Act and he was sentenced to three years’ direct imprisonment and an additional two years’ imprisonment wholly suspended for five years on condition that he pays an amount of R200,000 into the woman’s bank account.

He was also found guilty of contravention of the Immigration Act and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment wholly suspended for five years. The court further declared Osunde unfit to possess firearm.

The Provincial Head in Gauteng, Major General Ebrahim Kadwa welcomed the sentence handed down to Osunde, who scammed the public of approximately R1.6 million through fictitious lottery winnings messages and also applauded the investigation and prosecution team.

"Both teams have shown dedication in executing this task and we are pleased that the perpetrator will face the consequences of his scamming traits against vulnerable communities. We would also like to sensitise the public to be aware of such scams, if one did not enter any type of competition, it’s unlikely that one can become a winner,” said Kadwa.

18-year-old girl abducts boy in Adamawa, attempts to sell him to ritualists to raise money for car and live luxurious life (video)

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old girl, Blessing John, while she was allegedly attempting to sell a boy she abducted to ritualists.

It was gathered that the suspect lured the boy (name withheld) from her neighbourhood in Michika and took him to Mubi in search of a buyer.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said the suspect was arrested following a tipoff.

Nguroje said the teenager told police investigators that she abducted the boy to raise money to buy a car and live a luxurious life.

“She took the little boy to Mubi to sell, but when she could not reach the buyers on phone, she decided to search for another buyer. She ended up talking to the wrong person, who in turn informed the police,” he said.

According to him, the teenager got in contact with a kidnapper during her recent visit to Mubi when a friend told her she could make money by supplying children to ritualists and human traffickers.

The police spokesman called on parents to look after their wards and report suspicious persons and movements to the nearest security post.

Ukraine says over 3,500 Russian soldiers have been killed so far while 200 taken as prisoners

The Ukrainian military has revealed Russian soldiers have suffered more than expected casualties after invading the East European country.

The Ukrainian military published what they claim is a breakout of Russia's losses.

According to a post on its Facebook page, more than 3,500 Russian soldiers involved in the invasion have been killed and almost 200 taken prisoner.

The Ukranian Ministry of Defence added that Russia has also lost 14 aircraft, 8 helicopters, and 102 tanks so far.

Ukraine says over 3,500 Russian soldiers have been killed so far while 200 taken as prisoners

The Russian Ministry of Defence has so far not acknowledged any casualties but reports claim president Vladimir Putin is angry with the turnout of the war so far and has ordered a full onslaught of his military troops on Ukraine .... Unconfirmed reports also claim he sacked one of his military generals due to the high losses Russia has incurred the last 3 days.

Meanwhile Ukraine's military is asking people to remove the names of streets, cities and villages from road signs in their regions in order to 'confuse and disorient the enemy'.

Ukraine says over 3,500 Russian soldiers have been killed so far while 200 taken as prisoners

In a tweet, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said: 'We will do everything possible to clear Ukraine of the Russian occupier as soon as possible!'.

A sign over a part of the Boryspil highway triumphantly declared: 'Russian warship, go f**k yourself!', in reference to the killing of a small group of Ukrainian border guards stationed at Snake Island off the coast of Ukraine after they refused to surrender to Kremlin forces.

Estonia's former defence chief Riho Terras has now claimed that Putin's war is not going to plan because Russia is fast running out of money and weapons, and will have to enter negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky's government if Kyiv holds off the Russians for 10 days.

Putin has allegedly convened a meeting with the oligarchs in a bunker in the Ural Mountains, at which it is claimed that he furiously vented that he thought the war would be 'easy' and 'everything would be done in one to four days'.

Citing Ukrainian intelligence sources, Terras claimed that the war is costing Russia around £15billion-per-day, and that they have rockets for three to four days at most, which they are using sparingly.

Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland and Portugal to send military reinforcements to assist Ukraine

Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland and Portugal to send military reinforcements to assist Ukraine

Four NATO members, Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland and the Netherlands have announced they would send reinforcements to assist Ukraine in its battle against Russia.

The Czech Republic committed on Saturday, February 26, to send a “shipment of weapons to Ukraine” worth over $8.5 million to a “place of Ukrainians choice."

“The government has approved a shipment of weapons to Ukraine. We are sending machine guns, submachine guns, sniper rifles and pistols and their corresponding ammunition valued at CZK 188 million,” Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala tweeted.

“We are doing everything we can to help Ukraine,” Fiala added.

Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa said Friday that the country would be sending reinforcements to join Ukrainian soldiers on the ground to help secure their borders as this “is a war against the freedom of self-determination of a democratic country and therefore it is also a war against the freedom of self-determination and against democracy."

Speaking at a televised news conference, the Portuguese prime minister, flanked by Defense Minister Joao Gomes Cravinho, left, and the Chief of Armed Forces General Staff Admiral António da Silva Ribeiro said;

“There was an unanimity of all states, in view of the need to strengthen the NATO presence on the borders of Ukraine and in all the alliance countries that are close to the Ukraine region."

“Portugal, in this sense, in addition to the forces that this year has assigned to the European command of NATO, decided to anticipate, from the second half to the first half, the mobilization and commitment of an infantry company that will act in Romania and that will be projected in the coming weeks," Costa said.

"Several other countries at the moment are either anticipating or reinforcing or deciding to reinforce their participation with these countries [bordering Ukraine] in order to have a clear manifestation of unity and deterrence regarding Russia's actions," Costa added.

When asked for a specific number of soldiers that would be sent to support Ukraine, Costa said the infantry company would include 175 troopers.

The Netherlands also on Saturday said it would be providing Ukraine with more weapons.

“The Netherlands will supply Ukraine 200 anti-aircraft Stinger missiles. Other defence material already on its way,” the prime minister's foreign affairs and defense adviser, Geoffrey van Leeuwen, tweeted.

Germany, who is very dependent on Russia for its energy and gas, also announced it will deliver anti-tank weapons and missiles to Ukraine, a major policy shift after resisting Kyiv's previous calls for defensive weaponry.

"The Russian attack marks a change in times. It is our duty to support Ukraine as much as we can defending themselves against Putin's invasion army. Therefore we will deliver 1,000 antitank weapons and 500 stinger missiles to our friends in Ukraine," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz tweeted Saturday after a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Lithuania's President Gitanas Nauseda.

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich steps back following Russia invasion of Ukraine

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich steps back following Russia invasion of Ukraine

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich has announced he is handing over the reins of the club to the "trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation" amid Russia's ongoing war with Ukraine.

Abramovich released a statement on Saturday night, February 26, that he was handing the "stewardship and care" of Chelsea to the club's charitable foundation.

But the Russian billionaire will remain Chelsea owner having invested over £1billion into the Stamford Bridge club since purchasing it in 2003.  He will not be asking the club to repay the loans it owes him, meaning the long-term future of the club remains secure.

He said on Chelsea's official website: "During my nearly 20-year ownership of Chelsea FC, I have always viewed my role as a custodian of the Club, whose job it is ensuring that we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future, while also playing a positive role in our communities.

"I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values.

"That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC.

"I believe that currently, they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans."

Abramovich's decision to step back comes after several MPs made it clear they thought the Chelsea owner shouldn't be in charge of the European champions due to his alleged links to Vladimir Putin.

Labour MP Chris Bryant said on Friday that Abramovich's assets should be seized by the UK over allegations from a leaked 2019 Home Office document.

Bryant told the Commons: “I’ve got hold of a leaked document from 2019, from the Home Office, which says in relation to Mr Abramovich: ‘As part of HMG’s [Her Majesty’s government] Russia strategy aimed at targeting illicit finance and malign activity, Abramovich remains of interest to HMG due to his links to the Russian state and his public association with corrupt activity and practices."

Missed flight: Emir of Kano's nephew gives Air Peace three-day ultimatum to apologize to monarch

Missed flight: Emir of Kano

The chief protocol officer of the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, Isa Bayero, has given the management of Air Peace 72 hours to apologize for what he termed as the airline disrespecting the monarch.

LIB had earlier reported that Isa who is a nephew to the monarch, had written a petition to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, asking for punitive measures to be taken against Air Peace over its refusal to delay its scheduled Lagos-Kano flight in order to carry the monarch. In the petition, Isa said the airline delayed their Banjul to Lagos flight by over one hour and refused to allow them board their connecting flight to Kano because they arrived Lagos 30 minutes before departure time. He said the airline's decision not to delay a flight for the monarch was disrespectful and unacceptable

Air Peace however released a statement stating that it did not disrespect the monarch as claimed by Isa. The airline said it took the action to protect the Emir’s image.

However speaking to journalists on Saturday, Isa said Air Peace’s claim that it offered the Emir an alternative flight to Abuja for transiting to Kano is “pure falsehood”. He gave the airline 72 hours to apologize to the monarch in a National daily and in person, or the palace ''would not hesitate to go extra miles to correct the misnomer''

The Cable quotes him as saying

“Since we left Banjul an hour behind schedule, the airline should know they have 10 passengers transiting to Kano and should know the right thing is to reschedule the flight because the delay we had was never our fault,” Bayero explained.

I called severally. They refused to pick but later picked and told us it was not possible.

Courtesy demands the management should make necessary arrangement for the VIP because I had called the airline while in Banjul to make provision for vehicle that would transit the emir from international wing to domestic.

That they disrespected the emir was the reason why they refused to delay the flight. It is totally wrong and unacceptable because if they truly respect the emir, they should understand the aircraft was not complete without 10 passengers, including the VIP.

For delaying us from Banjul, which caused our arriving late to Lagos, Air Peace has the moral duty to accommodate or take care of us.

Unfortunately, there was no option or offer to ease our situation, only for us to be left stranded.

It was pure falsehood for Air Peace to make that statement that they provided an alternative flight to Abuja for the emir. For that claim, I was the one that asked for Abuja flight and they said it was fully booked.

The Abuja flight was fully booked and if their aircraft to Abuja is full already, how do we get to Abuja? Now, let’s assume they had taken us to Abuja, how are we sure Kano flight was available from Abuja?”

I am giving an ultimatum of 72 hours for Air Peace to tender an apology to the emir, first in a national daily, and secondly to come down in person to the emir. We would not hesitate to go extra miles to correct the misnomer. The action of Air Peace is sentimental and unprofessional and we can go any length to defend and protect any act of insensitivity against our prestigious traditional institution.

That insult is not heaped on the emir alone, but on the good people of Kano and folding our hands on this could trigger something worse and more ridiculous.”

SEE THE 20 REASONS FOR THE WAR BETWEEN RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

*For those confused about the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and by extension NATO.*

— Russia represents a polygamous husband with many wives like Ukraine, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belorussia, and the other Ex-Soviet Republics.

— In 1991, Ukraine being the most beautiful wife, demanded a divorce from her draconian husband.

— Russia grudgingly allowed her, but due to his toxicity and ego, he would rather see her remain single, subservient, and dependent.

— As a dynamic lady, Ukraine rapidly developed herself into one of the most beautiful women after the divorce.

— To the chagrin of Russia, Ukraine, his ex-wife, becomes a center of attraction wanted by other men, including his foe, NATO.

—Ukraine’s pulchritude and natural endowment earn her recognition from NATO—a counterpart to Russia.

—The relationship between NATO and Ukraine started growing at an alarming pace, unsettling the nerves of the ex-husband, Russia.

— As expected of a toxic narcissist, Russia went berserk. He insisted that a relationship between Ukraine and NATO will breed conspiratorial connivance, which poses a more significant threat to the masculinity and ego of Russia.

— NATO, a polygamist like Russia, is a liberal. His wives include the U.K., U.S., Greece, Germany, Spain, and many more.

— To NATO, the addition of Ukraine to his fleet of wives makes him more powerful and gives him an upper hand ahead of Russia.

— To Russia, NATO, and Ukraine’s marriage poses a grandiose threat to his territory. Therefore, he is committed to ensuring the relationship never happens.

— In his quest to truncate this relationship, Russia wants to reconstitute his past relationship; he is a nationalist, a fascist in the mode of Adolf Hitler.

— As a result of this, he abruptly barged into his unsuspecting ex-wife’s house a few days ago.

— The unwanted guest is currently holding her hostage, surrounding her house with hundreds of _dongaris_.

— NATO, at the moment, is scrambling for how best to rescue his new wife from her abusive ex.

— Russia had warned that anyone who interferes as he gobbles Ukraine would suffer consequences that they did not dream possible; that is, he has nuclear weapons to eviscerate even those who know nothing about his strained relationship with his ex.

—Right now, Ukraine is stuck between an abusive ex-husband and a new lover who has promised her the most exquisite things in the world.

— The world is perturbed as they watch this dispute in awe and fear.

— The rescue mission, if haphazardly planned, may likely boomerang into an all-out war between the two suitors and their friends.

— NATO, a businessman (Capitalist) and the controller of the G7, has threatened to impose severe sanctions against Russia if he fails to withdraw his _Dongaris_ from Ukraine's premises.

— The G7 are the big guys around. They include the U.S., U.K., Canada, EU, Italy, Japan, France, and Germany. An affiliation with these guys is lucrative, capable of catapulting any country to booming affluence.

— The essence of these sanctions is that these big guys will ghost Russia and cut every tie with him in an attempt to humble him “economically.”

*How is Africa connected to this conflict?*

— Africa should be worried about one thing, her economy.

— Economically, Africa and the rest of the world will be significantly affected should a war break out in Europe.

— The world is yet to recover fully from the aftermath of COVID-19.

— Asides from that, I see no reason why any African country/leader should take sides, at least, for now.

— Russia is the only European country that stood with Africa during the colonial period. Russia fought with Angola against the South African apartheid regime and defended Lumumba.

— Africa had better be spectators rather than a participant in this conflict.

— It is not on record that Russia had once colonized or invaded the African continent like Ukraine's new husband once did.

— There is an ongoing liberation in Mali. Russia is currently liberating Mali from French Imperialism.

— The embittered ex and the new husband are inconsolable at the moment.

— Although Olori Ebi (the United Nations) has attempted to mediate, Russia is deviant to his appeasement because the U.S. is the one feeding Olori Ebi the most. Understandably, he may not favor Russia

Evelyn began planning to move out of the house when she reportedly found a gun in Ifeanyi's bag on Saturday February 18, 2022.

She rang her sister and informed her of her findings and her decision to inform the police.

That evening, Ifeanyi allegedly strangled Evelyn and locked her body in their room before running off.

He reportedly called Evelyn's family and informed them of their daughter's death. Reports say he ran off with Evelyn's phone and ATM  and promised her family that he will return them later.

The police recovered Evelyn's decomposing body on Monday, Feb. 21, while Ifeanyi remained on the run.

He was eventually captured on Thursday, Feb. 24, while making enquiries about travelling to South Africa.

A photo of him, taken just before he was apprehended, shows him laughing without remorse, despite taking his wife's life.
