Begging for sex is rape - Nigerian lady argues

A Nigerian lady is of the opinion that begging someone for sex is a form of rape.

It all started when a Twitter user shared a thread disapproving of the notion that begging for sex is rape. The Twitter user had written

‘’"Begging for sex is rape"

IT DEFINITELY ISNT RAPE. Begging someone for sex to the point they agree might be exhausting and unhealthy but it isn't rape. Rape has a clearly defined meaning.

So long as consent was affirmatively given, it isn't rape.''

Responding, @LAJOKESAB said begging for sex is definitely rape.

‘’It is definitely Rape. The emotional manipulation that comes with being begged for sex is so exhausting and rigorous that a lot of women give in eventually to be raped. If it was consensual, no one will have to beg.

"I never performed any surgery on him" - Benue doctor tenders public apology for revealing sensitive information about a 'patient' on Facebook

The medical doctor, Kadev Kenneth Kelvin, who was remanded over alleged cyber stalking has tendered a public apology.

A Benue State Magistrate Court remanded Kadev at the Federal Correctional facility in Makurdi on Tuesday.

The accused was reported to have made a Facebook post on March 12, 2023 where he revealed that he stitched the lacerated anus of the Benue State publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bemgba Iortyom, after he was allegedly sodomized in Abuja prison in 2017.

Dr. Kadev, in the Facebook post after the incident, claimed that he has never met the complainant in life nor performed any surgery on him.

“PUBLIC APOLOGY Earlier today, I had an altercations with Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, who have been writing malicious posts on the person of my principal and spiritual guardian, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia PhD. We exchanged words and insults,” he wrote.

"I have received many calls from friends and associates that I went overboard. I want to make it public and categorically clear that my words were mere insults and lack substance. Remember, when two people insult each other, they say things that they don't really mean. Insults are not meant to please anyone.

"I have never seen Mr. Bemgba Iortyom in life except on this medium, and never perform any surgery on him.  I regret my actions for condescending to exchange such words and ask that you all look beyond this lapses on my part. It is not in my character.

“For Mr. Iortyom, I have equally forgiven him and all he said, and I call on him to do same. We are humans and not above mistakes. Thank you all. Kadev Kenneth Kevin.”

I am shocked that she is making a big noise out of nothing - Gov Ikpeazu expresses displeasure at INEC returning officer, Prof. Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti's comment after supervising Abia guber election (video)

Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has accused Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti, the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the just-concluded March 18 governorship election in the state of being unfair to all parties that participated in the poll.

In an interview with Channels TV on Monday night March 30, Ikpeazu said Nnannaya-Oti was “visibly happy” that she “favoured” the Labour Party (LP)during the election.

Governor Ikpeazu added that before the poll, he carried out some background checks on the returning officer and complained to INEC that she won’t be fair in the electoral process but got assurances from the electoral umpire.

Recall that on March 22, Nnannaya-Oti, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, declared LP’s Alex Otti the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Abia. The declaration followed the resumption of the final collation of governorship election results in Umuahia, the state capital over 48 hours after INEC suspended the exercise in the South-East state.

On March 28, Nnannaya-Oti while being received by her staff and students, said she was threatened and pressured to manipulate the result of the poll but she stood her ground.

Responding to Nnannaya-Oti's comment, Governor Ikpeazu described it as very unfortunate as she lacked the power to manipulate results.

“This is very unfortunate. I have not met that professor and I am shocked because in the first place, if she is a professor, she doesn’t even have the capacity to manipulate results because these are results that emanated from the units, collected at the wards, collected at the local governments and brought for her to just add them up and announce. I’ve not met her before; I’ve not spoken to her. If I have met her, if I have spoken to her, let her come to the public and declare so. So, I am shocked that she is making a big noise out of nothing.”

Ikpeazu also said he knew the returning officer would be “unfair” due to the coincidence in her name and that of the LP candidate.

“At some point when I saw the coincidence in name and trace a little bit of her background, I complained to INEC that this lady was not going to be fair but they assured me that they profiled her. I am still shocked. What she has potrayed in the aftermath of her service or stewardship in Abia, indicates that fact that she is visibly happy with what she did. Her level of bias in that regard could be placed in favour of a party. She has potrayed that she has something at the back of mind before she came.”

"Sex before marriage is not normal. It?s not fun. It?s human depravity" - Solomon Buchi

Self-acclaimed life coach and relationship expert, Solomon Buchi, has said that premarital sex is not normal.

You can date without sex. You should do it. Your head will be clear; your mind won’t be fogged by orgasms. It will be easier to walk away, and most importantly, you honor your body unto the Lord. Sex before marriage is not normal. It’s not fun. It’s human depravity,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 22.

‘It’s unconstitutional’- Peter Obi;'s running mate, Baba-Ahmed, asks President Buhari and CJN not to hold Tinubu’s inauguration (video)

?It?s unconstitutional?- Peter Obi;

The vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Datti Baba-Ahmed, has asked President Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Arowoola, not to hold the inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, come May 29, as his emergence as President-elect is not in line with the Nigerian constitution.

Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was declared the winner of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 1.

Speaking on Channels TV this evening, Baba-Ahmed argued that the APC failed to satisfy the requirements of Section 134 (2)(a) and (b) of the constitution for election to the office of the President. According to the provisions of that section, the rightful winner is one who “has the highest number of votes cast at the election” and “has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja”.

However, in the estimation of the LP vice-presidential candidate, going ahead with Tinubu’s inauguration is unconstitutional.

“Mr President, do not hold that inauguration. CJN, Your Lordship, do not partake in unconstitutionality,” he said

According to him, swearing in a ticket that has not ‘’met the requirements of the constitution is ending democracy.''

“That is my interpretation and that is indeed a correct interpretation,” Baba-Ahmed added. You cannot swear [in] people who have not met the constitutional requirements; you can’t do that. If you do it, you have done something unlawful, something unconstitutional. I’m not taking risks with my safety and with my life. It was more extreme for [INEC Chairman, Mahmood] Yakubu to issue that certificate; it was reckless. He’s putting all our lives in danger.” he said

We’re collating names of Nigerians who incited electoral violence - UK

We?re collating names of Nigerians who incited electoral violence - UK

The British high commission has said it is collating relevant information about Nigerians who engaged in anti-democratic actions during the elections.

The commission which disclosed that members of its observation team witnessed vote buying, voter intimidation, destruction of election materials, and harassment of journalists during the governorship elections, expressed concern over use of inflammatory ethno-religious language by some political figures.

The statement read;

“We observed improvements around elections logistics by INEC during the gubernatorial elections, particularly when compared to the Presidential elections.

“More polling units opened on time, there was greater evidence of BVAS and IREV working and results uploaded in real-time from polling units and collation centres. These are positive markers to build on for future elections.

“However, there were notable points of concern. Members of our observation mission personally observed violence, and voter suppression in numerous voting locations.

“We witnessed and received credible reports from other observer missions and civil society organisations, of vote buying and voter intimidation, the destruction and hijacking of election materials, and the general disruption of the process in numerous states including Lagos, Enugu, and Rivers.

“In addition, we observed incidents of harassment of journalists. Freedom of speech and a free press are crucial for a healthy democracy, and journalists must be able to go about their work without being threatened.

“The UK is concerned by the use of inflammatory ethno-religious language by some public and political figures.

“We call on all leaders not just to distance themselves from this kind of language, but to prevent those who speak on their behalf from doing so in this way.

“It is a testament to their commitment to democracy that many Nigerians were prepared to vote despite being faced with intimidation and hostility.

“The UK Minister of State for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell MP, said on 21 February, that the UK is prepared to take action against those who engage in or incite electoral violence and other anti-democratic behaviours, and action could include preventing people from obtaining UK visas or imposing sanctions under our human rights sanctions regime.

“We can confirm that we are collating relevant information, with a view to taking action against some individuals.”

Controversial Kenyan pastor arrested after his church member starved and suffocated her two children to death to ?please God

Kenyan Police have arrested a controversial televangelist in connection with the death of two children allegedly killed by their mother at Shakahola village.

Pastor Paul Mackenzie of the Good News International church in Malindi, Kilifi, was arrested on Wednesday evening, March 22, 2023,  after a Malindi Court ordered the exhumation of the minor’s bodies.

Also listed as suspects in the children's death are their parents Mr. Isaac Ngala and Emily Kaunga.

According to Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the children are believed to have been starved and later suffocated to death by their mother with the intention of becoming 'heroes before God after death'.

The mother is a worshipper in the pastor Mackenzie's church.

According to the investigating officer, Joseph Yator drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Malindi, police managed to rescue a third child.

"The rescued child narrated the sufferings his two siblings underwent after being starved for some time before their mother suffocated them to death,” the DPP said

The three are suspected of burying the two minors on March 16 and 17, respectively, in a shallow grave at Shakahola village, Kilifi County.

"The government pathologist and officers from DCI Malindi will supervise the exhumation exercise, and the sub-county police commander and area OCS will provide security. Exhumed bodies will be examined, and DNA and toxicological samples taken,” the DPP said.

Malindi police boss, John Kemboi confirmed the arrest of the pastor and said more details from preliminary investigations into the incident would be released on Thursday morning.

The report will also detail how many more children could have succumbed due to negligence from their parents after the radicalization in the pastor’s church.

Mr. Francis Wanje claimed two of his grandchildren died after their parents received teachings from the pastor, who forced the children to fast until they died.

Speaking to journalists during the operation to arrest the pastor, he said that the main suspect has been claiming that there are disasters that may be witnessed in the near future and therefore it is good for the children to die so that they can inherit the kingdom of heaven.

"Two of my grandchildren have already been buried, and the one who has been left was already preparing him to die and rest. Their pastor told them that there are disasters that are coming soon and they should not be given food until they die. My grandchildren died in those weird circumstances and now we are happy detectives have arrested the pastor," said Mr Wanje.

In 2017, Mr Mackenzie and his wife Joyce Mwikamba were charged with promoting radicalisation.

They were also charged with failing to provide basic education to their three children.
