 Having followed the prolonged identity crisis that recently played out in the American Court System and the controversy surrounding the authenticity of the Chicago State University credentials of Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I must confess that I am distressed as a Nigerian In addition to the barrage of media frenzy that the matter has triggered at home and abroad, I have had the unwholesome burden of responding to embarrassing questions about Nigeria’s overall credibility as a nation to privileged audiences & individuals both at home and abroad in different parts of the world where I have traveled lately To outsiders, the entire CSU matter as well as Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s many lingering identity question marks has further worsened Nigeria’s less-than-glorious image internationally. Uninformed outsiders now see every other Nigerian as a potential fraudster, certain forger, or identity thief. The controversy is unnecessary just as the implicit global embarrassment could have been avoided In my opinion, Chief Bola Tinubu should have saved the nation and himself from this protracted embarrassment & undue anxiety. Even this late in the day, however, he still owes the nation and the world a simple debt of obligation that only he can discharge. I call on him to immediately & personally mount the rostrum of his present high office to perform a simple task once and for all time. He should re-introduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world for the avoidance of further doubt. He should let the world know his name, nationality his place of birth, his parentage, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates obtained. He should indicate clearly where & when he did his National Youth Service. In addition, if at any time he has had a change of name, he should clearly state so and the circumstances. That, in itself, is no crime. This simple task should take no more than a few minutes. It requires no affidavits, prolonged court processes, spokespersons, agents, or surrogates. This task is one that only Chief Bola Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement can perform. He must perform this task urgently in order to lay to rest, once and for the last time, the many lingering doubts & valid speculations about his true identity A leader can’t outsource a clear unambiguous personal statement about his identity to political surrogates, social spokespersons, lawyers, or any other persons no matter how highly placed. A matter of the personal identity of a leader is too sensitive and central to the functions of the office he currently occupies to be tried with, outsourced, or disguised under the cloak of officialdom. It is also about integrity, morality, values & the rule of law that denies the character of the Nation and its people. In his present capacity as a leader of a nation of over 200M Nigerians, his true identity is a matter of grave national and international interest The people deserve to know for a certainty the true identity of their leader and this overrides whatever rights he may have to personal privacy. In addition, the international community deserves to know the true identity of the person with whom they will engage in Nigeria. Having stood for an election to the elevated public office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , Chief Bola Tinubu has implicitly undertaken to cede the rights of a private citizen in favour of a life of open disclosure of his true identity, and other circumstances that may be of public interest.His personal integrity demands no less. The legitimacy of the office he currently occupies demands that much and even more. Respect for the integrity & esteem of the Nigerian nation within the community of nations makes it even more incumbent & compulsory It’s time to do the right thing Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Delta Health Commissioner Resume Office, Promises Effective Healthcare Delivery Service

The newly sworn-in Delta State Health Commissioner, Dr Joseph Onojaeme has promised robust health services as he resumed duties to overhaul the operations of the Contributory health insurance scheme.

The commissioner spoke with journalists after a tour to familiarise himself with the ministry alongside the ministry management at the state secretariat in Asaba

He said that the Contributory health insurance scheme would be well monitored so that the civil servants who enrolled in the scheme reap the maximum benefits.

He noted that the health-contributing scheme will be expanded to include the informal sector.

He added that more doctors will be posted to the rural areas for effective health care.

According to Onojaeme,” Youth corp doctors shall be encouraged to serve in the rural areas with adequate motivation”.

On brain drain of doctors and nurses, the Health Commissioner stated that the Oborevwori administration shall continue to encourage doctors and nurses to serve in the state.

While speaking on the sickle cell centres established by the spouse of the former governor, Dame Edith Okowa, the commissioner maintained that such centres shall be taken care of to continue with the lofty objectives of such centres.

He thanked the State Governor Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for finding him worthy to serve.

He promised not to disappoint the governor and the people of Delta State.

A Nigerian lawyer has narrated how a lady told her husband she's no longer in love after he sponsored her nursing education in the U.K.

 

According to @BolanleCole, the lady said she doesn't want to be in a marriage where there is no love even though her husband catered for her needs and that of her family.

CHEI.........Update: Death toll in Kenya Cult Starvation exceeds 200

 

The death toll of a Kenyan cult that practiced starvation has climbed to 201, as search teams on Saturday, May 13 recovered 22 more bodies from a coastal forest, the Kenyan government has revealed.

 

According to Kenyan police, most of the bodies found in a forest near the Indian Ocean town of Malindi belong to followers of Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, a taxi driver-turned-preacher who is accused of inciting his church members to starve to death “to meet Jesus”.

The 50-year-old founder of the Good News International Church turned himself in on April 14 after police acting on a tip-off first entered Shakahola forest.

 

 

Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha, who announced the latest figures, said 26 people have been arrested over the deaths, including Mackenzie and an “enforcer gang” tasked with ensuring that no one broke their fast or left the forest hideout alive.

 

She said investigators would stop exhumations for two days to reorganize their efforts, till next week Tuesday.

 

A court on Wednesday ordered Mackenzie to be detained for three more weeks pending further investigations over what has been dubbed the “Shakahola Forest Massacre”.

 

While starvation appears to be the main cause of death, some of the victims including children were strangled, beaten or suffocated, according to chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor.

 

Court documents filed on Monday this week said some of the corpses had their organs removed, with police alleging the suspects were engaged in forced harvesting of body parts.
 

Questions have been raised about how Mackenzie, a father of seven, managed to evade law enforcement for years despite a history of extremism and previous legal cases.

 

President William Ruto has since set up a commission of inquiry into the deaths and a task force to review regulations governing religious bodies.

Commenting on the tweet, the PPRO warned the the man that he will face similar disrespect from his younger ones.

Media Personality and AAC Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Omoyele Sowore has alleged that there are people who want Afrobeats singer  Seun Kuti “executed” for slapping a police officer on Third Mainland Bridge. 

 

Sowore who made the claim shortly after the Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman Alkali ordered the arrest of Kuti, added that these people want the execution of the singer because he did not support Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the election.

Elon Musk has named Linda Yaccarino as Twitter's new CEO, ending speculation about who the billionaire would appoint as his successor at the social-media platform.

Yaccarino just resigned from her longtime job as NBC Universal's head of advertising on Friday, May 12 but has yet to publicly comment.

 

"I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!" Musk wrote on Twitter Friday. 

"@LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app." he added

 

 

In an earlier tweet May 11, Musk said he had hired a new CEO for the company, and that "she" would be starting in around six weeks.

 

Musk has presided over an era of chaos at Twitter, having shaken up the company with drastic layoffs that cut the employee count from 7,500 to about 1,000. Some advertisers, alarmed by the exodus of top ad execs from the company and the proliferation of misinformation on the site, have hit pause on ads. Benjamin Kalu, the choice of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the post of the Deputy Speaker in the yet-to-be-inaugurated 10th National Assembly has stated that the South-East geopolitical zone must not be pushed aside in the 10th NASS leadership.

 

The lawmaker representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State who sat for an interview on Channels Television on Sunday night, May 14, said APC might lose out in securing votes from the region in 2027 if they are neglected. 

 

Kalu said; 

 

“When you talk about nation building you forget about sentiments, you forget about emotions and look at the strongest argument and the strongest argument here is how do we make a diversity sensitive leadership, nation-building effort that will incorporate all the beautiful efforts of all the diverse part of the country coming together to work for what we peach? It’s by unity, peace and progress.

“You may recall that in the last four years, the South-East was not holding any of the presiding officers’ position and it has impacted on this election, among other things. I can assure you, if you neglect South-East again, a whole zone in such sensitive position, then you battle again in 2027, that is a big risk for any great planner to take.

“If you start now to plan and adopt this spirit of inclusion, South-East is going to yield a better harvest than what was yielded before.”

 

Man who claims he witnessed Seun Kuti’s assault on a Police Officer speaks (video)

 

A Nigerian man who claims to have been at the scene where singer Seun Kuti assaulted a police officer on Third mainland bridge, has said that he is ready to speak if he's summoned.

 

In a video he recorded, the man stated that Seun slapping and pushing the police officer was extreme. He also praised the officer for restraining him, stating that if it were him, he would have fought Seun back.

 

‘’If police call me I will give them the full detail. I am a living witness. Na me dey drive behind the guy that videoed the incident. You see this policeman, make una give am him flower. If you dey there, as a civilian wey you be, you can't take it but this man take am. Get it straight, I don't like police. We don't like police because of how the police manhandles us civilians. They manhandle us, They treat us like hooligans. They treat us without respect. He dismissed claims that Seun Kuti's family was under threat, and further pushed for the Afrobeat singer’s arrest.

Young man kills his mother in Rivers for refusing to give him N20,000 (photo/video)

 

A young man identified as Owate Bode has k!lled his mother for refusing to give him N20,000 in Rivers State. 

 

The incident happened in Aleto community, Eleme Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, May 13, 2023. 

 

The  man said he approached his mother requesting for N20, 000 to enable him attend a funeral in the community but could not get the desired response from the woman. 

He claimed his mother after withdrawing N20,000 from "his account," only gave him N10,000, which he insisted was not enough.

 

Things however went out of control when The boy now picked up a hoe and hit his mother on the head. The woman’s head was ripped open and she fell in a pool of bl00d. She died instantly.

 

The suspect was thereafter, apprehended by the community youths and handed over to the police, while the corpse has been deposited at a morgue in the area.

 

During interrogation, Bode who didn't seem remorseful for k!lling his mother, claimed to be mentally unstable.  He said he choose to "finish" his mum for refusing to give him his money and insulting him. He further stated that he is tired of living and wants to die.

 

Spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident said that the younger man is in police custody.

''Your regime inflicted hardship on Nigerians'' - Anglican Prelate tells President Buhari

 

The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander  Ibezim, has accused the regime of  President Buhari of inflicting so much hardship on Nigerians since his assumption of office in 2015.

 

Vanguard reports that while delivering his presidential address at the 1st Session of the 13th Synod of the Awka Diocese of the Anglican Church,  held at St Peter’s Church, Agulu in Anaocha local government area of  Anambra State,  Ibezim described the Buhari’s regime as very challenging to Nigerians. 

 

According to the clergyman, the Buhari administration was marked with “killings, kidnapping, looting and inflation,” adding that the government also failed to resolve the numerous agitations across the country. He stated that the president also failed to address the issue of unemployment he promised on assumption of office.

 

“Nigeria as a nation is blessed by God with human and material resources which ought to be utilized for the good of the people, but unfortunately, the resources that are meant for the benefit of all have been hijacked by few in authority. These eight years have been very challenging. The administration was marked with incessant killings, kidnappings, unresolved agitations, looting and inflation, increased rate of unemployment and hardship, lopsided appointments, and fuel scarcity.

The people are yet to breathe the air of democracy. Our politicians show little or no interest in the people they are supposed to be representing. The people are tired and they are yearning for a new Nigeria.”

She also advised women to stop bleaching their skins as men are now looking for “common sense, morals, and good character.”

Man dies while cheating on his wife with a corps member

 

A Nigerian lawyer has narrated how a man died while cheating on wife with a corps member. 

 

@BolanleCole claimed the deceased left home by 5:30am for the corps member's house, and died while they were having sex. He added that the man's wife found it hard to believe until she saw his corpse. 

 

He tweeted; 

 

"A man left his wife on their matrimony bed around 5:30am in the morning to a youth Corper’s house he was having affairs with only to die in active service while performing an extra marital’s duty. It was a family friend that called the wife and pass the information to her. the wife didn’t believe until he saw the lifeless body. What a sad day."

Nigerians defied the rain which fell throughout the night to cheer on chef Hilda Baci as she surpasse the Guinness World Record time for marathon cooking. 

 

Baci who began cooking on Thursday, May 11, surpassed Indian chef, Lata Tondon’s record of 87 hours 45 minutes record of longest cooking this morning.

 

Since she began her quest, many Nigerians including celebrities have trooped out en masse to support her.  The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Former Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Apkabio and Magaret Peter Obi, the wife of the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have also turned up to support her.

Mother killed while separating her sons who were fighting in Abuja

 

A woman identified as Zainab Ibrahim has died while separating a fight that ensued between her two sons, Inusa and Usman, at the Kpaduma II area of Asokoro in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Saturday, May 13.

 

 Punch reports that although the cause of the fight could not be ascertained, it was gathered that Inusa mistakenly macheted his mother on her left hand during the fight.

 

A resident of the area who gave his name as Saliu Shehu said Zainab was rushed to a private hospital where she died.

 

“The two brothers are of the same parents. They were engaging in a serious fight. Their mother came in and tried to separate them. Inusa, however, left and went to bring a machete with which he intended to use on his brother in the process, he mistakenly cut his mother on her left hand. She was taken to a private hospital where she died.”

 

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, said Inusa is at large, adding that investigation is ongoing on the matter.

 

 

“We received a distress call and rushed to the scene. The mother was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Usman is in custody while Inusa is at large. An investigation is, however, ongoing on the matter.”Adeh said

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has said he will do everything in his power to bring Lionel Messi back this summer.

Messi is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer when his contract expires, and is still considering his next move.

However, Barcelona's financial situation means a lot will have to come into place for a move to materialise.

The Catalan giants must lower their wage bill by a reported £180m if they are to make any significant signings.

And Laporta has said the club will do whatever it takes, telling Jijantes FC that 'we will do everything we can to bring Leo Messi back to Barcelona.'

He continued: 'We are already working on next year's team. We hope to be able to reinforce the team,' he said.

'We are in an austerity plan at the club to be able to have enough fair-play to allow us to improve the team. We are doing our homework to be able to have an even more competitive team next season.'

Laporta also paid tribute to Xavi, who has now won the league in Spain as both a player and a manager following Barcelona's 4-2 win against Espanyol on Sunday.

Napoli aim to break salary structure to retain Victor Osimhen

 

Napoli are reportedly ready to break the club salary structure to keep Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen, in an attempt to ward off interests from European clubs.

 

According to Sunday’s edition of La Repubblica (as per Tutto Napoli), the newly crowned Serie A champions are considering a Cavani-style arrangement to retain Osimhen for another season.

 

The proposed formula involves offering the striker a substantial increase in salary and the promise of a future transfer at the end of next season.

 

This approach would deviate from Napoli’s usual salary structure, which is capped at €3.5m net.

 

Osimhen’s exceptional performances and potential have prompted Napoli to consider this exception to their wage policy.

“The idea is a Cavani-style formula: to renew with a substantial increase and the “promise” of a sale at the end of next season,” the website wrote.

“Osimhen could represent the exception to the rule of wages fixed €3.5m net. The scenario, however, cannot exclude a maxi offer. Napoli has set a very high price, around €150m. If the indecent offer were to arrive, it would be normal to make evaluations.”

 

The report will come as a big blow to suitors especially Chelsea, who are believed to have their first move to secure Osimhen’s services, proposing a player-plus-cash deal.

 

The 24-year-old Nigerian was instrumental to Napoli’s first title win in 33 years, scoring 23 league goals from 29 appearances.

According to @BolanleCole, the lady said she doesn't want to be in a marriage where there is no love even though her husband catered for her needs and that of her family.
