Cossy Ojiakor berates mothers who pray for their children to be the first and not the last (video)

Cossy Ojiakor has called out mothers who pray for their children to be the head and not the tail; the first and not the last.

The actress, while wishing mothers a Happy Mothers' Day, read a verse from the Bible.

"The Lord said to Samuel," she read, "do not consider his appearance for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart."

She then berated mothers who want their children to be the first and not to last.

"What kind of mother are you?" She asked such mothers.

She further questioned whose child they expect to be the last.

She then advised mothers that rather than say such prayers, they should pray for their children to be good people.

Briefing newsmen at the police headquarters in Makurdi, commander of Operation Zenda, CSP Gberindyer Justin, confirmed that the bandits were killed by his men during an operation in Ukum LGA.

He disclosed that the bandits were ambushed after his men got intelligence information that they were on their way to attack a village called Gbagire.

"Unknown to the bandits, all their calls were being tracked by the intelligence unit and were carefully followed up as they executed plans on how to attack the village," he stated.

Justin said that the bandits who were going on operation were about 20 and stated that aside those four bandits that were killed, many others ran into the nearby bushes with bullet wounds.

Items recovered from them include; one (1) AK-47 rifle, one (1) G3 rifle, one locally-made revolver pistol, seventy-five (75) rounds of 6.72x39mm live ammunition, 5 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, AK-47 magazines, three G3 magazines, and fifty-nine (59) rounds of 7.62x49mm live ammunition.

'Is NATO being run by Russia?'- President Zelensky accuses NATO of being intimidated by Russia

Ukraine's president, Volodimir Zelensky has demanded that Western nations hand over military hardware that was 'gathering dust' in stockpiles, saying NATO nations don't want to support Ukraine with jets and tanks because they were being intimidated by Russia .

Since the War between Russia and Ukraine began on February 24, NATO nations have so far given Ukraine anti-tank and anti-craft missiles as well as small arms and protective equipment, but have not offered any heavy armour like tanks or fighter planes.

Zelensky accused the West of holding back on supplies because they were frightened of Russia and suggested Moscow is in charge of NATO.

In a late-night address on Saturday, March 26, Zelensky said;

'We need more ammunition. We've already been waiting 31 days. What is NATO doing?

'Who is in charge of the Euro-Atlantic community? Is it really still Moscow, because of intimidation? We are only asking for one per cent of what NATO has, nothing more.'

Zelensky also angrily warned Moscow that it is sowing a deep hatred for Russia among his people, as constant artillery barrages and aerial bombings are reducing cities to rubble, killing civilians and driving others into hiding.

'You are doing everything so that our people themselves leave the Russian language, because the Russian language will now be associated only with you, with your explosions and murders, your crimes,' Zelenskyy said.

His comments came after anuclear research facility in the besieged city of Kharkiv, near the Russian border, came under fire on Saturday.

"Men are polygamous in nature" - Actress Chizzy Alichi says she can

Nollywood actress, Chizzy Alichi has said that she will never divorce her husband because of infidelity.

Speaking to Saturday Sun, the actress who got married to entrepreneur, Ugochukwu Mbah, in 2019, said that men are polygamous in nature and most of them cheat.

The movie star also declared that she is not scared of husband snatchers as she is a whole package and her husband is grateful to have her as his wife.

"I can’t leave my husband because of infidelity. I have this orientation while growing up that all men cheat. Men are polygamous in nature, and believe it or not, most men cheat. Though, there are still good ones, my husband is number one. If you leave a cheating partner, what is the possibility that the next person will not cheat? But it depends on what and how it happened," she said.

Giving reasons why her husband is not active on social media, the movie star maintained that he doesn’t have an account.

“My husband doesn’t have a social media account. Well, he is only on Facebook. I’m also not scared of husband snatchers. I mean who is that? Does she have 10 heads? I’m a whole package and my husband is forever grateful. He is the one scared of losing me. I had many suitors, people richer than my husband but I chose my husband because he is my best friend, play and gossip mate; and he’s rich. Who doesn’t like good things,” she added.

I cried every day for three months and had therapy in order to survive NYSC certificate saga – Former Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun

I cried every day for three months and had therapy in order to survive NYSC certificate saga ? Former Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun

Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has said she wept for days and even had to undergo therapy after she was accused of forging her National Youth Service Corps certificate in 2018.

Adesosun, who spoke at the 10th anniversary of the Uncommon Woman Conference organized by the Jesus House Church, United Kingdom, said she cried so much during the whole saga as she had to deal with shame, betrayal, disappointment and humiliation during that period.

“That period of life was tough for me. I went to step into the shoes of someone like Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. So, I was under fire from day one, it looked like things were not working. Then all of a sudden, the economy started to improve. It was like I was beginning to see the desired result. Then out of nowhere, the certificate scandal came. And before I knew it, everything turned upside down. And that was how the issue went viral.”

Adeosun said it was sad that she was even unable to tell her side of the story and had to resign when she could no longer bear it.

“I was born and raised in the United Kingdom; indeed, my parental family home remains in London. My visits to Nigeria up until the age of 34 were holidays, with visas obtained in my UK passport. When I finished school, there was no opportunity for dual citizenship; I either renounce my British citizenship or hold on to it and work here. I didn’t renounce mine. I finished school at 21 and started working at 22.

I obtained my first Nigerian passport at the age of 34 and when I relocated, there was debate as to whether the NYSC law applied to me.  Upon enquiry as to my status relating to the NYSC, I was informed that due to my residency history and having exceeded the age of 30, I was exempted from the requirement to serve. Until recent events, that remained my understanding.

On the basis of that advice and with the guidance and assistance of those I thought were trusted associates, the NYSC was approached for documentary proof of status. I then received the certificate in question. Having never worked in the NYSC, visited the premises, been privy to or familiar with their operations, I had no reason to suspect that the certificate was anything but genuine.

Indeed, I presented that certificate at the 2011 Ogun State House of Assembly and in 2015 for the Department of State Services clearance as well as to the National Assembly for screening. I sought legal advice and there was no problem I could get an exemption for the NYSC.

I was so ashamed at that time because I was into teenagers’ mentoring and all of that. So, the experience negated the lessons I had taught my teenagers.  I cried every day for three months; I didn’t do anything for anyone or myself for those months. I just cried, cried, and cried.

I thought I would feel better when I got vindicated by the court but I still wasn’t happy.  The court cleared my name three years later but it took another time of counselling and therapy before I felt better.

It was thereafter I forged ahead with life and started my charity work.”she said

Why I tried to rush out of Nigeria hours after handing over to Soludo - Former Anambra governor, Willie Obiano, speaks

Why I tried to rush out of Nigeria hours after handing over to Soludo - Former Anambra governor, Willie Obiano, speaks

The immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has explained why he tried to leave Nigeria hours after he handed over to his successor, Chukwuma Soludo, on March 17.

Recall that Obiano was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos state by the EFCC.

In an interview with Premiumtimes, Obiano, through his lawyer, Patrick Ikwueto (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria), said he was not running away but was rather hurrying to keep a doctor’s appointment to treat a “semi fatal condition”.

“He was not running away. Why will he run away when his family is here and he has a lot to do here? The fact is that he (Obiano) has a medical condition for which he had a prior appointment to see his Specialist Doctor for treatment at Spring Creek Urology Specialists LLC, Houston, Texas, U.S.A.

By the nature of his ailment, he has been undergoing treatment at the said Specialist Hospital since June 2021 and had an appointment earlier scheduled for the final stage of Specialist Radiography for eight (8) weeks – which will take place immediately upon his arrival at the Facility in Houston, Texas, U.S.A; and thereafter, after four days. Subsequent treatments are scheduled every day for a period of eight (8) weeks.”

Mr Ikwueto said the former governor had since mid last year received treatment at the U.S. medical facility every three months.

“The last time he was there was December 2021 and became due for another round of treatment this March shortly before he handed over to Soludo,” the lawyer said.

The lawyer refused disclosing the nature of the ailment.

“He (Obiano) was lucky that the disease was detected on time. It was still at an early stage when he was diagnosed last year,” said a source familiar with the former governor’s medical condition. He asked not to be named because he had no permission to discuss “private and confidential matters” concerning Mr Obiano.

The lawyer also said the former governor was granted permission by the federal authorities to travel for urgent medical treatment and that the former governor was surprised that after he was given assurance that he could proceed on his trip, he was blocked at the airport.

“I can tell you that after the media reported that the EFCC placed him on its watchlist, he reached out to authorities at the federal level to seek permission to travel for his scheduled medical treatment,” the lawyer said. “He also promised that he would thereafter return to face any probe the EFCC or any other agency had against him. So it was shocking that he was still treated the way he was despite the assurance he was given.”he said

The Rivers governor disclosed this when he visited Makurdi on Sunday and held talks with some delegates of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

During his declaration, Mr Wike said he has the courage and resources to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress from power at the ballot box.

His disclosure comes barely days after Aminu Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi declared their interests in the presidential ticket of the main opposition party.

“To remove APC from power, I’m the person who can tell them enough is enough,” Mr Wike said. “We must take this power and I’m ready to take it for PDP.”

“God is with us that’s why APC keeps failing every day,” he added.

The announcement came as Mr Wike opened attacks on some elements within the party, including Raymond Dokpesi and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Mr Wike accused the politicians of not funding the party as he had done over the years, claiming to have more say within the party than many other members, especially those who had left to join other parties at one time or another or who just joined the party.

'I went to Shiloh because of this. I prayed, I begged.''- Nigerian man mourns death of his woman who died after battling cancer

A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to mourn his woman who just died after a battle with cancer.

Sharing via his Twitter handle, the man @__TheUnsullied mentioned that he went to Shiloh to pray and beg God to heal his woman but in the end, she still died. According to him, he met her during NYSC and she came to change the trajectory of his life.

Expressing his grief, he wrote

''The woman I am in Love with is dead.

This is unbelievable. It better be a dream.

I went to Shiloh because of this. I prayed, I begged. I was going to show her this in a year's time because I was so certain we'd beat this.

This woman changed the trajectory of my life. Can't even put into words the impact she had in my life.

I was calling and there was no response so I figured she'll probably just call me back.

Lose someone to sickle cell one year and another year lose another person to cancer. I am tired man, let everything just end.

I've known her for 7 years and I was in love from the very first time I saw her during Nysc.

Going back to read all our conversations on all the messaging apps we were communicating on.

My eyes are empty from all the tears I've cried.

We shared dreams, we had plans. We talked almost everytime. She was always putting me on to opportunities. She was always there for me.

I need one more moment, there are things I need to say to her, need to tell her again, need to see her smile and hear her laugh again.

Dear Lord you've taken so many of my people, I'm just wondering why you haven't taken my life.''
