Consequences of rigging election’ll be grave – Oyegun

Oyegun
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has said the consequences of the alleged plan to rig the governorship election in Osun by Peoples Democratic Party will be grave.
Oyegun said this in Osogbo on Thursday at a news conference he addressed on the alleged plan to manipulate Saturday’s poll in favour of the PDP.
He said his party had uncovered the manual prepared by the PDP on how to rig the election.
According to him, the rigging plans were contained in two documents which are now in the custody of the APC.
Oyegun added that the PDP had planned to unleash mayhem as an alternative plan.
The APC chairman exonerated the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, of the plan to rig but he said that the PDP made its plan in collusion with some unscrupulous officials of the INEC.
He said, “Jega is sitting on an iceberg and he does not know what is under. I sympathise with him. The consequences of rigging this election will be undesirable.”
He said, “We have uncovered a secret document marked ‘’Highly Confidential,’’ that contains a meticulous outline of plans to rig the election, polling unit by polling unit, using pre-programmed ballot papers already designed and thumb printed with vanishing ink in favor of PDP.
The APC gave the breakdown of the self-allotted figures as contained in the document as follows: “Atakumosa-East (10,000); Atakumosa-West (10,000), Ayedaade (15,000), Ayedire (10,000), Boluwaduro (5,000); Boripe (10,000); Ede-North (10,130); Ede-South (10,000); Egbedore (10,000); Ejigbo (15,000); Ife-Central (35,000); Ifedayo (7,000); Ife-East (33,018); Ifelodun (15,000) and Ife-North (20,000).
“Others listed in the rigging document are: Ife-South (20,000); Ila (10,000); Ilesa-East (10,000); Ilesa-West (10,340); Irepodun (10,007); Irewole (20,105); Isokan (10,000); Iwo (15,000); Obokun (10,203); Odo-Otin (10,107); Ola-Oluwa (5,070); Olorunda (15,000); Oriade (10,000); Orolu (7,936 and Osogbo (28,000).”
But the Chairman of the PDP in Osun State, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, when contacted debunked the claims of the APC.
Olaoluwa said the APC were jittery because of the impending defeat they would suffer on Saturday.
He said, “If they have any document prepared by the PDP to rig, why can’t they publish it? Does it mean they do not have money to do so?
We challenge them to make such public instead of making frivolous allegations.”
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, said the INEC was ready for a transparent election which would be a reference point in the history of elections in the state.
Agbaje urged the people of the state to come out to vote on Saturday, saying adequate preparations had been made for their security.
