Nigerian international, Kelechi
Iheanacho, on Wednesday picked up an injury during Manchester City’s
second leg playoff game against Steaua Bucharest at the Etihad Stadium.
In the 75th minute the striker pulled up
with what looked like a serious hamstring injury after chasing a
through ball, putting more pressure on Kun Aguero to stay fit.
Before he was stretched off, the
Nigerian contributed to City’s lone goal of the night after connecting
with a Yaya Toure pass in the 56th minute. He played the ball outside of
the box to an onrushing Jesus Navas, whose inch-perfect cross found
Fabian Delph, who nodded down expertly past Steaua goalkeeper Valentin
Cojocaru.
Manchester City advanced to the group
stage of the Champions League with a 6-0 aggregate defeat of Steaua
Bucharest after winning 1-0 in their second-leg playoff match on
Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola’s side had built an insurmountable advantage over the Romanians after a 5-0 first-leg thrashing in Bucharest.
