Teenage Brume rules Commonwealth long jump, Okagbare picks another gold

TEENAGER, Ese Brume, who had a disappointing outing at the IAAF Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon, US, last week, made the headlines for the right reasons yesterday in Glasgow. 
  The lad tipped as a future champion by no less a figure than former Commonwealth long jump champion, Yusuf Alli, defied a strong field of more experienced jumpers to win the women log jump gold medal for her country.
 It was not an easy feat, but Brume knew what she wanted from the onset and set about increasing her leaps with every jump.
  In the absence of her compatriot, Blessing Okagbare, who was tipped for the top spot, Brume leaped to an impressive 6.56 metres to give Nigeria the second gold of the night.
  In the 200 metres final, Okagbare once again proved her value to Nigeria by winning the gold medal to add to the 100 metres title she won on Monday.
  Okagbare powered way to victory in the final of the 200m in a time of 22.25 seconds.
  It was an effortless win for the Nigerian athlete who had no difficulty racing to the     
  Okagbare would have competed in the Long Jump event, but it clashed with her 200m,so she chose the latter over the former.
  Meanwhile, in the final Men’s 400m hurdles, Chris Morton gave a good account of himself to finish fifth with a time of 49.65 seconds.
