Chika Amalaha B sample tests positive, Nigeria loses weightlifting gold

Nigera’s Chika Amalaha is facing a doping ban, after her ‘B’ sample tested positive to banned substances.
The 16-year-old weightlifter won gold at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with a combined total of 196kg in the women’s 53kg category.
She was however provisionally suspended from the competition, after her ‘A’ sample was found to contain amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide, which are both prohibited as diuretics and masking agents.
“I can’t and won’t speculate on what the outcome might be,” CGF chief executive Mike Hooper said, after confirming the positive test.
“We have a robust process in place that must be followed to ensure fairness to all.”
