Adamawa guber election: Tukur’s son denies stepping down for Ribadu

Nuhu-Ribadu2
A leading aspirant for the Adamawa State re-run election, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Awwal Dahiru Tukur, has debunked media reports that he has stepped down for Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Yola, Tukur said he was never under pressure from any quarters to step down for Ribadu nor any time contemplated leaving the governorship race because of the perceived plan by the former Chairman of EFCC to join the PDP.
Although, he explained that Ribadu was his elder brother, whom he held in high esteem, Tukur said the former police officer is a chieftain of APC while he is of the PDP.
“When I saw a story published in the media ,claiming that I have stepped down for Nuhu due to the meeting we had in Abuja, I was surprised . The story is unfounded. I have not withdrawn and I am planning to declare my intention to contest for the party’s primary in the upcoming bye election.”
Tukur further declared that PDP would not allow any imposition of candidate in the bye election, saying that the door of the party was open for any interested candidate who wants to join the fold in line with the party constitution.

“Adamawa of today is not that of yesterday. Our patience should not be taken for granted and my prayer is that issue of imposition should not arise,” he added.
