Preparations towards the declaration for second term by President Goodluck Jonathan gathered momentum in Abuja on Tuesday as the Presidency inaugurated a committee to screen all groups canvassing for second term ambition of the President.
Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufai Alkali, while inaugurating the 11-man committee headed by Gen. A.T. Ibrahim (retd.) as chairman in Abuja, said the committee has 10 days to submit its report.

He said, “As 2015 approaches, we note that the circumstances and fundamentals facing us is somewhat different.
“The opposition is different, the political landscape is different, the players are different and the issues are different.
“Therefore, to succeed in 2015, there is a great need to re-appraise our strategies and the structure of the umbrella organization that helped us to victory in 2011.”
Alkali said the over 3,000 groups and NGOs home and abroad positioning to campaign for President Jonathan must all participate in the screening and evaluation exercise, which is billed to be conducted by his office in collaboration with PDP state chairmen and other stakeholders, and supervised by Dr. Godson Nnaka to enable them understand and partner with the groups.
He said the terms of reference for the committee are to examine the structure and organisation of the GSG, evaluate how the various directorates and units operate in relation to each other, propose reorganisation and structure of the GSG to improve its effectiveness, make recommendations to reposition the GSG to achieve its overall organisational goals and objectives stressing that the committee may consider memorandum from relevant stakeholders.
He debunked insinuations that posters, billboards, jingles, newspaper advertisements encouraging President Jonathan to run in 2015 are being sponsored by the Presidency, saying they were done by private individuals and groups who identified with the transformation agenda of the President and want him to continue beyond 2015.
