The Global Innovation through Science and
Technology (GIST) initiative announces the launch of the public voting for the
2014 Technology Idea (Tech-I) Competition. Tech-I is an annual science and
technology entrepreneurship competition, which this year accepted over 500
entries from 86 countries in the four areas of agriculture, energy, health, and
information and communications technology (ICT). Internationally esteemed
experts have selected the top 68 GIST Tech-I semi-finalists from 35 countries
and now it is the global public’s turn to vote for the next big science and
technology idea or startup!
Public voting will determine which 30 semi-finalist teams from Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa advance to the Finals at the 2014 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Marrakech, Morocco. During this prestigious event, these up-and-coming scientists and entrepreneurs will receive intensive skills training, mentorship, and networking access to global leaders in their fields. All finalists will receive up to 3 months mentoring following the finals. In addition, they are also competing for awards totalling $70,000 in funding.
