Nasir El-rufai vows to sue Ihejirika over Boko Haram allegations

Mallam Nasir el-Rufai
Former minister of the FCT, Nasir El-rufai, who is now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that he intends to sue Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika, over claims made by the retired general that he is a Commander of Boko Haram.
Recall that Ihejirika made the claim about El-rufai in an interview which he granted to Vanguard newspaper. He was responding to a Facebook post by El-Rufai quoting an Australian negotiator, Stephen Davis, who had named Ihejirika as a major sponsor of the Dreaded terrorist.
The Australian negotiator claimed he had related with Boko Haram since 2006, and worked with past Nigerian presidents and recently with President Goodluck Jonathan administration where he came close to freeing the over 200 kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls in Borno.
In an interview with Arise TV in UK, Davis said leaders of the sect told him that the former army chief and a former governor of Borno state were sponsors of Boko Haram operations.
Sequel to the said interview, it was learnt that El-Rufai posted on his Facebook page the extract of the dialogue which prompted Ihejirika’s response, calling El-rufai a Boko Haram Commander.
Subsequently, El-rufai has said that he simply won’t accept the grave accusation and promised to sue Ihejirika.
“People cannot make such outrageous allegations without evidence about others and be allowed to walk free,” he said.
