The
Peoples Democratic Party Councillors Forum will on Friday in Calabar
“pass a vote of confidence on President Goodluck Jonathan and also
endorse him for another term in office because he has done creditably
well.”
The forum
has called on the national leadership of the party to make all its
members “automatic delegates” in the forthcoming primaries of the party.
The
Chairman of PDP councilors Forum, Mr. Onogu Collins, made the plea on
Tuesday in Abuja, while speaking with journalists on the forthcoming
inauguration of its Cross River State executives headed by Andrew Aleke
scheduled for Friday.
Speaking
on the screening of the over 8,000 support groups for President
Jonathan’s re-election bid by his Special Assistant on Political
matters, Prof. Rufai Alkali, he commended his efforts saying the forum
wants “to be involved in the screening process of the various support
group.”
According
to him, the group is supporting President Goodluck Jonathan for another
term in office because of the ways he has responded to the fight against
insurgency and how the Ebola Virus Disease was tackled.
Onogu
said, “All Nigerians must work to support President Jonathan in the
fight against insurgency; we must all be vigilant and we believe that
very soon, the issue of Boko Haram will be a thing of the past.”
“Jonathan
is one of the best President Nigeria has ever had. I believe the
opposition parties should stop witch-hunting him. They should give him
the chance to take Nigeria to the next level in the next four years.”
