SEE PICTURES......OMIWA DID SO GREAT IN UGBOLU

The one-day medical outreach conducted on April 11th, 2026, in Ugbolu, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State by Omiwa Foundation USA represents a significant and impactful intervention in community healthcare delivery, aimed at addressing unmet medical needs within the community.

Overview of the Outreach
The outreach was strategically organized as a free, comprehensive healthcare program carried out over a single day, with the primary objective of improving access to quality medical services among underserved residents of Ugbolu and its surrounding communities.

Over 170 patients were attended to during the outreach, reflecting both the healthcare needs of the population and the strong community response to the initiative.

Clinical and Diagnostic Services Rendered
The outreach was carefully structured to provide holistic and patient-centered care, integrating preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services. Key components included:

General Medical Consultations:
Patients presented with a wide spectrum of clinical conditions, including febrile illnesses—predominantly malaria—respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal disorders, skin conditions, and musculoskeletal complaints. Chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus were also identified, with appropriate management initiated.

Screening and Vital Signs Assessment:
All patients underwent baseline clinical evaluations, including blood pressure measurement, temperature, pulse rate, and random blood glucose testing. This enabled the detection of previously undiagnosed hypertension and abnormal blood sugar levels among several individuals.

Point-of-Care Laboratory Investigations:
Basic diagnostic services were provided using rapid testing methods, particularly for blood glucose and malaria, ensuring timely and evidence-based clinical decision-making.

Pharmaceutical Care:
Essential medications were dispensed free of charge to all patients, accompanied by thorough counseling on proper drug usage, adherence, and potential side effects. Frequently dispensed medications included antimalarials, antibiotics, antihypertensives, analgesics, and hematinics.

Health Education and Preventive Counseling:
Health talks and one-on-one counseling sessions were conducted, focusing on personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, prevention of infectious diseases, and lifestyle modifications necessary for the control of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.

Epidemiological Observations
Findings from the outreach revealed a significant burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases within the community. Malaria remained the most commonly diagnosed condition, consistent with endemic patterns in the region. Additionally, a notable number of individuals were newly diagnosed with hypertension, reaffirming its status as a “silent killer.” Cases of poorly managed diabetes, untreated infections, and nutritional deficiencies were also observed, highlighting the need for continuous access to healthcare services.

Public Health Impact
The outreach had a meaningful impact on the health status of the Ugbolu community. By providing free and accessible healthcare services, the program helped to alleviate immediate health challenges, facilitated early disease detection, and encouraged positive health-seeking behaviors.

Furthermore, the initiative strengthened community awareness on the importance of routine medical check-ups and timely presentation to healthcare facilities. It also generated valuable health data that can inform future interventions and healthcare planning within the region.

Conclusion
The successful execution of the April 11th, 2026 one-day medical outreach in Ugbolu by Omiwa Foundation USA highlights the critical role of non-governmental organizations in bridging gaps in healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities.

Despite being conducted within a single day, the outreach attended to over 170 patients, demonstrating remarkable efficiency, dedication, and a strong commitment to humanitarian service.

Sustained efforts of this nature are essential for reducing disease burden, improving overall health outcomes, and promoting equitable access to quality healthcare across Delta State and Nigeria at large.
