Ogboru, Okowa trade words over development claims in Delta

Ahead of the 2019 elections, Governorship Candidates of the people’s Democratic party ( PDP) ,Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, and Chief Great Ogboru of the All progressive Congress ( APC) in Delta State have engaged each other in war of words over development claims in the state .

Dr ifeanyi Okowa had on Friday in Asaba described Chief Ogboru as inconsistent politician who lacked the capacity and will to govern Delta State, adding that his political inconsistency portended the fact that he is not in any way a serious politician who has the development of the state at heart.
He said, ” APC Ogboru’s threats of taking over Delta State, and no development in Delta are empty threats, for instance,chief Ogboru can’t govern the state because he is not a consistent politician, from one party to another, what has he done in the state? He has no record to show, he is ready for anything, APC is in crisis in almost all the states, where and how would they take over the state? I believe that Deltans are not fools,they know the right steps to take, the PDP led government in the state has done very well with massive development across, if I won the second term election, which of course by the grace of God, I will win convincingly, there will be more developments in the State. I urge Deltans who have collected their PCVs to go and do so to vote massively for PDP as the only party that will improve the well being of the people”.

Dr Okowa who spoke to newsmen on his plan to make Delta State the hub of economic development and basic infrastructural development in his second term when voted, said,” My administration will focus more on development of infrastructure, I have fulfilled all the promises I made in the first term, and I know I will do better in my second term so whoever will take over from me will wear big shoes and must work harder to surpass my records, for instance, Asaba is fast developing, when I came in 1999, my boy I came with was just two years, today is 21 years old, a lot has been done in Asaba, especially the drainage systems ongoing, and there will be more in my second term by the grace of God”.
But Chief Ogboru, the APC governorship Candidate who spoke through his aide, one Mrs Osama Agho Stephanie alleged that Okowa had been the arrow head in the decietful cabal of the PDP in the state with mindless looting of the state treasury and the common wealth of Deltans and had held the state in its Jugular Since 1999 , adding that over 20 years of PDP led government in Delta State has been shrouded in deceitful and inept leadership which has caused the state to remain stagnated while its Counter parts are developing.
She said:” Deltans can no longer be decieved by these cult like PDP led governments, we are not unaware of how Governor Okowa Stampeded the leadership of a rubber stamped Delta House of Assembly to reject the passage of the local government finacial autonomy Bill when it was brought before the House during the constitional amendment, making local government autonomous only require understanding, Courage and appreciation of the existing law and Chief Ogboru being a man who has the capacity to differentiate between politics and governance, upon his assumption of Office will do what is necessary to reposition the 25 LGAs as 3rd tire of government in Delta State,If truly the led PDP government have been transparent enough to distribute what is accruable to the local government councils when we had oil boom, there would be noticable development across the state, Deltans know better not to entrust their collective destiny to a man who have not Succeeded in any other business, but hanging on to the corridors of power, and that is why Okowa’s incompetence in governance manifested in his Inability to pay local government workers and teachers until he got bail out from federal government”

On the issue of Ogboru being serial contestant, Mrs Osama Agho Stephanie alleged that PDP had been sitting on stolen mandate duly won by Chief Ogboru, Saying that the” diminising Delta PDP knows its game was up because this time around,APC will reclaim Its mandate back and liberate Delta from PDP 20 years of misrule”
Also speaking to newsmen, the publicity Committee Chairman of the Delta PDP campaign organization,Mr Timi Tonye noted that Chief Ogboru and APC were deceivers as the PDP was ready to bring to an end its maladministration and warned Ogboru to stop deceiving Deltans on APC’s plan to take over Delta State and make local government councils autonomous when it emerges victorious in the 2019 elections”
