Hehehe......The Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) and the the Independent Democratic (ID) have elected Yul Edochie and Franklin Ndife, respectively as candidates of the party for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
While Edochie, a known movie actor was elected by a 140-man delegate of the party, Ndife, a farmer was elected by 243 delegates, all through voice votes conducted by officials of the party and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking separately in their acceptance speeches, both candidates who coincidentally are 35 years in age, pledged to stamp out poverty and also ensure youth empowerment if they were elected as governor of the state.
Ndife who was announced winner of the gubernatorial primary by the Cross River State chairman of ID, Mr Sunday Michael said that his major interest would be to empower youths as older politicians in the state had through their policies impoverished women and children.
The national chairman of ID, Chief Edozie Madu who congratulated Ndife on his emergence said it was time for the youths to take over governance.
Edochie on the other hand has not made disclosures over who his running mate for the election would be.
