Ooni of Ife sympathizes with Oba of Lagos, denies involvement in the fire incident at his palace

hehehehe....Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has sent his heartfelt messages to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Aremu Akilu over the fire outbreak at his palace in Lagos Island yesterday.
Although, Nigerians have been claiming that the fire incident that affected the main sections of the Lagos palace, was a result of Oba Rilwan snubbing the Ooni of Ife at a public function, a week ago.
But in a brief chat with Premium Times, the spokesperson of the Ooni’s palace, Moses Olafare said the Ife monarch is sad over the fire outbreak and that the incident has nothing to do with the Ooni of Ife snub.
'We are not happy over the fact that the palace of Lagos king got burnt, we can only sympathize with the palace on the development,' he said.
Reacting to the widely speculated claims, he said:
'People are entitled to their own views. But what people say doesn’t mean that is the position of the palace. What happened is mere coincidence and should not be traced to the incident in Lagos, we send our sympathies,' he added.
There was a fire incident at a section of the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, in the Iga Iduganran area of Lagos Island today. This comes just a week after the controversy following Oba Akiolu's supposed refusal to properly greet the 51st Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at an event recently.

Ooni Ogunwusi released a statement insisting he would continue to hold Oba of Lagos in high esteem and continually give him respect. On the other hand, speaking through one of his white cap chiefs, Lateef Ajose, the Lagos Monarch said he did not ignore the Ooni of Ife at the public function as being interpreted by many Nigerians. Lateef said the manner in which the Oba greeted the Ooni is the culturally acclaimed way of greeting by a monarch in Lagos.

Nigerians however feel that there's a relation between the fire incident and supposed snob. See more tweets below.

The mysterious fire that gutted the palace of Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has reportedly destroyed the traditional regalia.

It has been revealed that the traditional regalia of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, was reportedly destroyed in the fire that engulfed the palace on Tuesday afternoon.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA, while speaking said that the affected section of the palace where traditional regalia were kept was destroyed by fire.

He added that the mysterious fire was quickly nipped in the bud by the various emergency agencies on ground.
“The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately. But it has been put off by the combined efforts of federal fire service and state fire service,” he said.

It is still not yet known what could have started the fire but many people have related it to the embarrassing incident, some days ago in which Akiolu had disgraced the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi at a public function.

Some said the gods are fighting on behalf of the Ooni because of the shame he suffered in the hands of the Oba.
