With hearts weighed down by grief yet strengthened by faith, the Delta State Branch of NAGGMDP announces the burial ceremony of our dearly beloved member, leader, mentor, and father figure, Late Dr. David Awhenayeri Toje (JP), who peacefully transitioned to eternal glory on the 20th of October, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, at the age of 65 years.
Dr. Toje was not just a colleague; he was a pillar within our association and a beacon of wisdom, humility, and dedicated service. Having recently retired from the Delta State Hospital Management Board (HMB), he left behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and unwavering commitment to healthcare delivery in Delta State and beyond. His life was a testament to integrity, leadership, and selfless service to humanity.
As announced by his family, the burial rites are scheduled as follows:
📌 Thursday, 12th March 2026
4:00pm – Service of Songs at St. Jude Catholic Church, GRA, Effurun, Delta State.
📌 Saturday, 14th March 2026
7:00am – Departure from Naval Military Hospital Mortuary, Effurun, with a brief stop at his residence.
9:00am – Arrival at Toje Family Compound, Emevor, Isoko North LGA.
10:00am – Funeral Mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Emevor.
12:00pm – Interment.
12:30pm – Entertainment of guests at Adam Igbudu Christian Center, Emevor.

9:00am – Thanksgiving Mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Emevor.
We call on all members of NAGGMDP, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to please make arrangements to attend and stand in solidarity with the Toje family during this solemn period. Our presence will be a powerful expression of the love, respect, and honour we hold for our departed colleague.
Though we mourn his physical departure, we celebrate a life well lived — a life of purpose, dignity, and impact. His contributions to medicine, his mentorship to younger doctors, and his dedication to the growth of our association will never be forgotten.
May the Almighty God grant his gentle soul eternal rest, and may He comfort his beloved family, friends, and all of us who feel the pain of this irreplaceable loss.
