WHAT IS HYPERTENSION?

 HYPERTENSION (HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE)

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a condition in which the force of blood flowing through the blood vessels is consistently too high. It often develops silently and may not show symptoms, yet it can cause serious health problems if not properly managed.

Why is Hypertension Dangerous?

If left untreated, hypertension can lead to:

  • Stroke

  • Heart attack

  • Heart failure

  • Kidney disease

  • Loss of vision

  • Sudden death

That is why it is often called “the silent killer.”

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Obesity and physical inactivity

  • Smoking and excessive alcohol intake

  • Shortness of breath

Do not wait for symptoms before checking your blood pressure.

How is Hypertension Diagnosed?

  • Laboratory tests to assess heart, kidney, and metabolic health

Management and Treatment

Hypertension can be effectively controlled through:

  • Lifestyle modification (low salt diet, exercise, weight control)

  • Stress management

  • Avoidance of smoking and alcohol

  • Strict adherence to prescribed medications

  • Regular medical follow-up

⚠️ Do not stop your medication without consulting your doctor.

Prevention Tips
