IT IS WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY

IT IS WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY

Down syndrome is a genetic condition, affecting about 1 in every 1000 newborn globally.  It is caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21 which affects physical and intellectual development.

Every 21st of March, the World Down Syndrome Day is set aside to celebrate the successes of individuals with Down syndrome while providing support for children, addressing myths and promoting inclusivity.

This year 2025, the theme "Improve Our Support Systems" emphasizes the importance of enhancing support systems for individuals with Down syndrome and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary care, education and opportunities they truly deserve.

We join the rest of the world to encourage inclusivity. Let us come together to create a world where children with Down syndrome are valued, included and empowered to reach their full potential.
