On Wednesday we had reported the abduction of three medical workers by kidnappers on the Emure-Ile axis of the busy Akure-Owo expressway, with the subsequent demand of N50 million ransom by the kidnappers.
“She was freed due to her state of condition but not until her family paid the sum of N2 million as ransom.
“She is currently receiving treatment in one of the hospitals in the state capital and I’m aware the female doctor is doing fine,” the source said.
He also maintained that effort was still on towards rescuing the other victims still in the kidnappers’ captivity.
“Yes, one the victims was released today. She was freed during the midnight when they noticed that the police was close to them (kidnappers).
“We have received her, and she is currently attending to treament in the hospital due to the trauma that she went through in the hand of the hoodlums.
“But let me assure you that we shall not relent in arresting the perpetrator of this crime and we will bring them to book, so they can face justice.
“The Ondo Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, has set up a rescue team at ensuring that others still in captivity are rescue unhurt,” the PPRO stated.
