Aisha Buhari
Wife
of the President has disclosed the secrets of the 'driving force'
behind her husband's push to deliver on his electoral promises.
Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, says the support and prayers of the Nigerian women has been a “driving force” for her husband.
According to Suleiman Haruna, director of information in the office
of the president’s wife, she said this in Yola, Adamawa state, while
distributing food items to women organisations.
While appreciating the support of the women to her and the president, the president’s wife promised not to let them down.
She also thanked them for the consistent prayers over her husband’s improved health.
“I am deeply appreciative of the support that you show to us at every turn and promise that I will never let you down,” she said.
“Today’s event, which is the distribution of food items, is a
symbolic gesture and a token of my appreciation. It is meant to confirm
that I have not forgotten you, and never will.”
On his part, Muhammad Bindow Jibrilla, governor of Adamawa, said
recognised that women carry the heaviest burden and anyone who wants to
improve their welfare has his full support.
He also thanked the wife of the president for her philanthropic gesture.
Also speaking, Maryam Bindow, wife of the Adamawa governor, said
the event of the president’s wife is consistent with the policy drive of
the current administration at both the federal and state levels and
would go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
“I urge the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by
supporting government in its policies and programmes aimed at improving
the lives of Nigerians,” she said.
