My phone is my office –Ara, drummer

this is Ara, The drummer....hehehehe
What other things do you use your phone for apart from calling, texting and browsing the Internet?
I take pictures a lot because I love them. As a musician and songwriter, I also use it to record audios and videos a lot. Anytime I get an inspiration, I quickly take out my phone to record so I would remember later. I also send and receive emails on my phone. I also watch movies on my phone and lastly, I use it to check calendar and schedule appointments.

How long do you use a phone?
It depends. If the phone serves its purpose very well, I can use it for as long as five years. For instance, I’ve been using the phone I have now for the past two years and it’s been serving its purpose quite well.
Do you buy brand new or refurbished phones?
I go for brand new.
Which do you prefer — Android or iOS device?
Android. I really don’t know much about phones, but once I see one that is good for me, I will buy it. Right now, I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and it’s been working perfectly for me. I think it just came out when I bought it. I liked it and I felt it’s the one for me for my job.
What do you consider when buying a phone?
I consider its speed. I don’t like a phone with poor internal specifications. I also look out for the quality of a phone before I buy it so that I would not keep spending money on it every time. I also like a phone with a good camera, which can take clear and high definition pictures. I also like a phone which I can easily use to take notes and lastly, I like a phone which can record clear audio and video messages, especially as my job requires me interviewing people a lot. My phone is simply my office. I’m not really a social media person, though I try to post once in a while on Facebook.
What is the minimum amount you can spend on a phone?
I have a small phone which cost me N5,000.
What is the maximum amount you can spend on a phone?
N250,000.
Are you a gadgets freak?
No, I’m not.
We are talking about turning your phone into a home security camera due to insecurity in the country. What security tips would you offer Nigerians?
Always make sure you have airtime on your phone just in case of an emergency. You will be able to contact your family and friends in such an instance. Also, when you are somewhere and you perceive something is wrong, perhaps a suspicious movement of someone or some people, quickly take a picture and send it to the appropriate quarters. But when you want to take such a picture, be careful you are not noticed. If you are in danger, you can quickly record an audio on your phone asking for help and send to a family or friend. You can also record a video message and upload to the appropriate quarters. We must just be security conscious, especially in the face of terrorism and kidnapping we are facing in the country right now.
