SO SAD....RIP....Senator Peter Nwaoboshi Dies

Anioma has been thrown into mourning following the death of Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi, a prominent political figure and respected son of the region.

The late senator was widely regarded as a man of strong convictions and uncommon courage, whose passing underscores the fleeting nature of life and the profound silence left by the exit of a fearless voice in Nigeria’s political space.

Beyond politics, Senator Nwaoboshi was known for his bold presence and unapologetic stance on issues affecting Anioma and the nation at large. Throughout his political career, he distinguished himself with resilience, firmness, and a willingness to stand by his beliefs, regardless of opposition.

His death leaves a significant void in Anioma, while Nigeria reflects on the impact of a man who lived purposefully and spoke with conviction. He is remembered as a leader who stood his ground and made his mark on the political landscape.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy endure among the people and land he served.

MUST READ....FACTS why DR Congo WILL Lose Its 2026 Playoff Spot After Nigeria’s FIFA Petition

What should have been a moment of celebration for DR Congo has suddenly turned into a tense waiting game.

Following the CAF playoffs final, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially written to FIFA, alleging that DR Congo fielded players who were not legally eligible to represent the country. If FIFA’s investigation confirms those claims, the consequences could be devastating — not just for the players involved, but for DR Congo’s entire 2026 World Cup campaign.

This is not speculation. It is about law, paperwork, and FIFA’s long-standing zero tolerance for eligibility fraud.

The Problem Starts With Nationality, Not Football

Under DR Congo’s own Constitution, nationality is not something that can be rushed or improvised.

Foreigners can only become Congolese through clearly defined processes — naturalization, marriage, option, or adoption — and even then, only when the state determines that the decision is in its national interest. Final approval is not automatic; it must pass through the National Assembly, the Council of Ministers, and the President.

In simple terms, a passport alone is not enough.

Naturalization, for example, requires:
• Proven good character
• No serious criminal convictions
• At least seven years of residence (or five years of permanent residency)
• Evidence that the applicant’s citizenship serves a real national interest

On top of that, DR Congo does not recognize dual nationality, except for a very narrow exception that applies only to children born abroad — and only until they turn 21, after which one nationality must be renounced.

These strict rules matter, because if any player’s nationality was obtained outside them, everything else collapses.

Why FIFA Takes This Extremely Seriously

FIFA clears players based on documents submitted by national associations. That clearance is done in good faith. But it is not permanent or untouchable.

Once fraud or falsification is suspected, FIFA steps in.

And the rule is simple:

Article 22 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code- Falsification & Forgery.

If a player’s nationality is later found to have been fraudulently acquired, FIFA withdraws its clearance, declares the player ineligible, and moves straight to sanctions.

This is exactly the situation the NFF is asking FIFA to investigate.

What Happens If Fraud Is Proven?

FIFA’s disciplinary framework leaves little room for sympathy.

If ineligible players featured in the match:
• Their eligibility is immediately cancelled
• The players face lengthy bans, often at least 12 months
• The national association faces heavy fines
• Matches are forfeited, usually recorded as 3–0 losses
• In serious cases, teams can be expelled from competitions

Where forged government documents are involved, the matter can even go beyond football and trigger criminal investigations.

This Has Happened Before — Recently

This is not a theoretical threat.

In late 2025, FIFA sanctioned the Football Association of Malaysia after discovering that forged birth certificates were used to create false eligibility claims for several players. FIFA described the act as a form of cheating, suspended the players for 12 months, and heavily fined the association.

The message was clear:
When eligibility is built on false documents, results do not stand.

Why DR Congo’s World Cup Ticket Is Now at Risk

If FIFA confirms that any DR Congo player in the CAF playoffs final:
• Did not meet the country’s legal nationality requirements
• Illegally held dual nationality
• Or relied on falsified or misleading documents

Then FIFA will have no choice but to act.

That would mean annulling the result of the match and applying forfeiture rules — a decision that would strip DR Congo of its place in the 2026 Intercontinental Playoffs.

NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed resigns after meeting with Tinubu Farouk Ahmed, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has resigned following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu. Tinubu, on Wednesday, summoned Ahmed to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following allegations of economic sabotage and corruption.

‘₦200bn Probe’: Dangote drops another bombshell on NMDPRA Boss Farouk Ahmed

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ahmed Farouk, is allegedly facing intensifying scrutiny following moves to pay more than ₦200 billion in outstanding bridging claims to oil marketers, according to a press statement sent to Channels Television by the Dangote Group on Wednesday.

According to the statement, quoting industry sources, the company said the planned payment of the claims, which reportedly covered legacy obligations for 2023, 2024, and 2025, has allegedly raised serious concerns among economists and sector analysts, particularly over the absence of verifiable data to justify a significant portion of the claims.

Bridging claims are government payments made to oil marketers to compensate for the cost of transporting petroleum products from depots to various parts of the country, enabling uniform pump prices nationwide.

The statement noted that industry analysts said the benefit was rarely enjoyed by Nigerians, as petroleum products are sold at a higher rate in most parts of the country.

“In several instances, marketers submit bridging claims that do not correspond with the levies paid per litre, with discrepancies of up to 47 per cent. The current move to settle approximately N250 billion in legacy bridging claims, despite the regulator’s inability to provide empirical data to substantiate as much as 47 per cent of those claims against verified levies paid by depot owners and importers, strongly suggests the presence of irregular and potentially sinister practices.

“It is therefore imperative for the Auditor-General of the Federation to immediately halt the processing of all bridging claims until a comprehensive investigation and forensic audit are conducted to ensure that claims approved by the regulator accurately align with levies paid per litre,” the statement quoted a senior industry source.

The developments come amid a corruption petition filed by the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alleging abuse of office, corrupt enrichment, and unlawful diversion of public funds by the NMDPRA chief.

The anti-graft agency has since confirmed receipt of the petition and announced that investigations have commenced.

In the petition dated Tuesday and submitted through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja (SAN), Dangote urged the ICPC to arrest, investigate, and prosecute Farouk for allegedly living far beyond his legitimate means as a public servant.

According to the petition, received by the office of the ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu (SAN), Farouk allegedly spent more than $7 million on the education of his four children in Switzerland, purportedly paid upfront for six years, without any lawful source of income to justify such expenditure.

“That Engr Farouk Ahmed has grossly abused his office contrary to the extant provisions of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers and, in doing so, enmeshed himself in monumental corruption and unlawful spending of public funds running into millions of dollars.

“That Engr Farouk Ahmed spent without evidence of lawful means of income humongous amount of money of over 7 million dollars of public funds, for the education of his four children in different schools in Switzerland for a period of six years upfront,” the petition read.

Dangote named the four children, the Swiss schools they attend, and the specific amounts allegedly paid for each, to enable the ICPC to independently verify the claims.

The oil magnate further alleged that Farouk used the instrumentality of the NMDPRA to embezzle and divert public funds for personal gain and private interests, actions he said have fuelled public outrage and recent protests by various groups.

According to Dangote, Farouk has spent his entire adult working life in the Nigerian public sector and could not, based on his legitimate earnings, have accumulated funds close to the alleged $7 million used to finance his children’s education abroad.

“It is without doubt that the above facts in relation to abuse of office, breach of the Code of Conduct for public officers, corrupt enrichment and embezzlement are gross acts of corrupt practices for which your Commission is statutorily empowered under Section 19 of the ICPC Act to investigate and prosecute,” Dangote stated.

He added that upon successful prosecution, if found guilty, the offence attracts a prison term of five years without an option of a fine.

Dangote expressed confidence in the capacity of the ICPC, working alongside other anti-corruption agencies, to prosecute financial crimes and ensure accountability once a prima facie case is established.

He urged the Commission to act decisively, stressing that the matter is already in the public domain and that firm action would help safeguard the image of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He also pledged to provide documentary evidence to substantiate his allegations of corrupt enrichment, abuse of office, and impunity against the NMDPRA chief.

Meanwhile, the ICPC has confirmed receipt of the petition and assured the public that it will be investigated. The Commission’s spokesperson, John Okor Odey, acknowledged the petition in a statement.

“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today, Tuesday 16th December, 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer. The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed. The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated,” he said. “I ćheateď on my husband with Pastor Chris & sent him ınțimate viďeos from my maritał þed” – Doris tearfully tells Daddy Freeze

In a raw and emotional live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has opened up about her past affair with Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry (Liberation City).

During the interview, which quickly went viral, Doris admitted without hesitation: “I cheated on my husband with Chris Okafor.” She stressed that she is not proud of her actions and revealed that she never truly loved her ex-husband. In a particularly shocking disclosure, she claimed that while still married, she would pleasure herself on her marital bed and send the videos to the pastor.

The confession forms part of a larger, highly publicised saga that has gripped social media in recent weeks. The drama reignited in mid-December 2025 when a video emerged of Pastor Okafor proposing to another woman, sending Doris into visible distress.

According to Doris, her intimate relationship with the Anambra-born cleric began in 2017. The two allegedly met frequently at places like the Marriott Hotel in Lagos. She says she fell deeply in love with him and, under family pressure, briefly paused the affair in 2019 to get married. However, she claims her then-husband knew about her feelings for the pastor yet went ahead with the wedding. The affair reportedly resumed during the marriage and continued even after she left her husband, hoping Okafor would marry her.

Doris has also spoken of suffering a miscarriage (which she says was falsely labelled an abortion), sending explicit videos, lending money she claims was never repaid, and enduring deep emotional pain. She has linked some of her personal tragedies, including the mysterious death of her brother, to the fallout from the relationship. In recent emotional videos, she shared alleged old WhatsApp conversations from 2022 filled with affectionate exchanges and accused the pastor of leaking private material.

The proposal video appears to have been the breaking point. Doris was reportedly hospitalised after a suspected suicide attempt amid the heartbreak, and she has publicly declared that the planned wedding will not go ahead.

Public reaction has been divided: some express sympathy for Doris’ evident pain and mental-health struggles, while others criticise her for the affair itself and for airing such private matters so openly. Pastor Chris Okafor has not directly responded to the specific allegations from the Daddy Freeze interview, though he recently preached about arrogance and disrespect in relationships during a church service, without mentioning names.

As of 16 December 2025, the story continues to unfold, sparking widespread debate about love, betrayal, accountability, and the blurred lines between personal and public life in Nigeria’s entertainment and religious circles. These details remain Doris’ account; no formal legal action or detailed rebuttal from Pastor Okafor regarding the intimate claims has been reported so far.

TYPES OF COMMISSIONING IN THE NIGERIAN ARMY

1. DSSC – Direct Short Service Commission

For graduates and professionals (e.g., doctors, engineers, lawyers).

Duration: Typically 6 months of military training at NDA.

Officers are commissioned into non-combat roles in support services (e.g., Medical Corps, Education, Legal Services, Military Police, Engineer's, Finance and Supply & Transport etc).

They rise through the ranks based on merit and availability of roles.

2. SSC – Short Service Combatant Commission

For degree holders aspiring to serve in combatant arms (Infantry, Artillery, Armour and  Intelligence etc).

Duration: 9 months of rigorous military training.

It’s a temporary commission (usually 14 years) , but officers can later be converted to Regular Combatant.

SSC officers can attain General ranks depending on conversion and performance.

3. RC – Regular Combatant Commission

Done through Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

Cadets undergo 5 years of academic + military training, then graduate as Second Lieutenants.

Officers are career military personnel and have the best chance of reaching top ranks (COAS, GOCs).

Most military Heads of State and Service Chiefs came through RC.

4. EC – Executive Commission

A special commission awarded to senior Non-commissioned officers (NCOs) who have distinguished themselves.

It recognizes experience, leadership, and long service.

EC officers often serve in support or regimental duties and can rise to the rank of Major or Lieutenant Colonel depending on performance.

Conversion Course

A military bridging program that allows officers with temporary commissions (e.g., SSC, DSSC) to be converted to Regular Commission.

The course includes refresher military training, regimentation, and leadership modules.

Successful conversion means better promotion prospects, career security, and eligibility for higher command roles.
