A renowned columnist, Sam Omatseye, has alleged threats to his life by suspected supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, over a scathing article he wrote about him.
Mr Omatsaye had on Monday written an opinion piece published in The Nation titled “Obi-tuary”.
The piece, however, attracted condemnation by Mr Obi’s supporters on social media platforms.
Disclosing the threats via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Mr Omatseye said unknown people suspected to be supporters of Mr Obi had been calling and issuing death threats to him.
The columnist, therefore, urged Mr Obi to call his supporters to order, warning that the LP presidential candidate would be held responsible if anything happens to him.
“Mr. Peter Obi, call your supporters to order. They are calling and issuing death threats. If anything happens to me, you will be held responsible!” Mr Omotsaye tweeted.
