The Premier League will convene an emergency meeting on Friday
morning, to take decisions on fixtures, following news that Arsenal
manager Mikel Arteta has tested positive for coronavirus.
Earlier on Thursday, it was announced that all Premier League games
scheduled for this weekend would go ahead, despite other top European
leagues like LaLiga and Serie A being suspended.
However, the news about Arteta has forced them to reconsider.
“In light of Arsenal’s announcement tonight confirming that their
first-team coach Mikel Arteta has tested positive for COVID-19, the
Premier League will convene an emergency club meeting tomorrow morning
regarding future fixtures.
“The Premier League will make no further comment until after that meeting,” a statement read.
It is expected that football will be suspended until further notice.
