24 hours after Nigerians dragged himself and Oby Ezekwesili on Twitter for participating in the World Economic Forum holding in South Africa, businessman Jim Ovia, has announced his withdrawal from the forum.
In a statement released this morning, Ovia said his decision to withdraw from activities at the WEF was hinged on xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country.
The statement in part reads
“Following the hypersensitivity of the issues surrounding the lives and well-being of Nigerian citizens living in South Africa and to contribute his voice against the poor state of security regarding foreign nationals living in Africa, Jim Ovia has withdrawn from further activities at the World Economic Forum Africa 2019, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa''.
