The Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Senator Tayo Alasoadura will be replacing each other as the Minister of State at the labour ministry and Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs respectively.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate redeployment of two Ministers of State as follows.
“Mr. Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, is to move to Ministry of Labour and Employment as Minister of State.
“Senator Tayo Alasoadura is to move to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as Minister of State.
“This redeployment takes effect from today, Tuesday, 24th September, 2019" the statement read.
Festus Keyamo confirmed the swap which came one month after he resumed office and also approved by President Buhari in a tweet he shared. He wrote;
ON THE MOVE AGAIN: TWO PORTFOLIOS IN TWO MONTHS! Just been redeployed to the Ministry of Labour and Employment to work with my long-time big brother, H.E, Chris Ngige. Thank you, Mr. President for finding me versatile enough to move around. Always ready to serve in any capacity
It is speculated that the swap came as the lawyer and former
spokesperson of President Buhari's campaign organization never had the
best relationship with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill
Akpabio in the past. Keyamo was actively involved in the prosecution of
Godswill Akpabio as an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
counsel.
