Festus Keyamo confirmed the swap which came one month after he resumed office and also approved by President Buhari in a tweet he shared. He wrote;

ON THE MOVE AGAIN: TWO PORTFOLIOS IN TWO MONTHS! Just been redeployed to the Ministry of Labour and Employment to work with my long-time big brother, H.E, Chris Ngige. Thank you, Mr. President for finding me versatile enough to move around. Always ready to serve in any capacity

It is speculated that the swap came as the lawyer and former spokesperson of President Buhari's campaign organization never had the best relationship with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio in the past. Keyamo was actively involved in the prosecution of Godswill Akpabio as an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel.
