Superstar singer, Davido, who has been a huge support to his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke who is PDP’s Governorship candidate in Osun State, has reacted to recent development which saw the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declare Osun election inconclusive.
Davido who took to Twitter to react to the announcement, wrote;
Victory is certain which ever way …. God’s plan issokay
This is coming after Davido stated that there are plans to declare Osun election inconclusive. Davido, had said that INEC plans to use the excuse that there was cancellation and violence in some polling units and also the close margin of the results.
Disclosing this via Twitter, Davido said ‘We must come out to say no to this daylight robbery. He wrote :
They are planning now to declare the election inconclusive as a result of cancellation and violence in some p u bc the margin is too close, PDP must fight this injustice. We must come out to say no to this daylight robbery !!!! @inecnigeria
Recall that Davido cancelled his music tours abroad and participation in the 3 weeks compulsory orientation programme of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), to campaign for his uncle as he stated that the PDP must fight this injustice.
It has also been gathered that INEC has fixed September 27th, for Osun State governorship election rerun . The election umpire had on Sunday declared the election inconclusive based on an INEC technicality.
INEC Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology , Akure , Prof Joseph Fowape , while announcing the results said the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party , Ademola Adeleke, polled 254, 698 votes to defeat that of the All Progressives Congress , Gboyega Oyetola , who polled 254, 698 votes .
However , due to irregularities which marred the election at some polling units in Ife North , Ife South and Orolu local government areas, including cases of card reader malfunctioning, ballot box snatching , among others, this led to the cancellation of 3, 498 votes recorded in the affected polling units.
Quoting INEC ’ s Standing Rules at the commission ’ s headquarters in Osogbo , the state capital , Fowape, said since the margin between the two leading candidates was lower than the registered cancelled votes , the election had to be declared inconclusive . He stated that a rerun would take place at the affected polling units on Thursday , September 27, 2018.
