'New minimum wage loading... - Femi Adeshina......Buhari inaugurates 30-man committee to renegotiate the new minimum wage (Photos)


hehehe.............Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity has hinted that a new minimum wage is loading.


He said this as he shared photos from the President's inauguration of a tripartite Committee to look into the issue of the National Minimum Wage.

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated a 30-man tripartite National Minimum Wage Committee to renegotiate the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
The inauguration took place at the council chamber, Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Monday.

In his remarks, Mr. Buhari said the inauguration of the committee followed the recommendation of a technical committee that was put in place, after the increase in Petrol Pump Price in May 2016.

He also urged the 30 man committee led by former Head of Service and Minister of Housing, Ama Pepple, and her deputy, the Minister of Labour and employment, Chris Ngige, to complete its deliberations and submit its report including their recommendations as soon as possible to enable other requisite machinery to be set in motion for implementation of a new National Minimum Wage.

The chairman, National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission, Richard Egbule, will serve as the secretary of the committee.
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Simon Lalong of Plateau State, who were in attendance are also part of the committee, including Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State.
Other members of the committee are Udoma Udoma, Minister, Budget, and Planning; Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Finance; Winifred Oyo-Ita, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; and Roy Ugo, the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation among others.

The committee is made up of persons from the public sector, (federal and state governments) and the private sector made up of the largest private employer group, the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME).
