Killing of Sun Newspaper staff an attack on security – Anambra Police


Hmmm.......Anambra State police commissioner, Mr Garba Umar has said that the killing of the circulation representative of the Sun Newspaper, Mr Fabian Obi on Monday was a personal attack on security in Anambra State.
Umar told us at the state police command, Awka, that considering the relationship that the command had built with the media, especially under him, he considered any attack on any arm of the media as a personal attack on security, and that his men had already identified those behind the attack, and would arrest them in no time.

He gave credit to the media practitioners in the state for the ability of the security agencies to ensure safety, saying that swift dissemination of information by the practitioners had helped the command to combat security challenges in the state.
Mr Fabian Obi, a staff of the Sun Newspaper was on Monday shot dead by gunmen who stormed the New Market Road Office of the company and dispossessed the staff of monies belonging to the company and shot him dead.
Meanwhile, a former policeman, Kenneth Chikwe who was arrested with a bullet wound for car snatching has died in police custody after he was arrested by police officers from the police command.
The commissioner said Chikwe who was arrested with a bullet wound was an ex police officer, but could not disclose the crime that led to his being dismissed, saying the command was still working to get his details.
Umar also added Chikwe before his death made confessional statements about his exploit in the underworld, which led to the arrest of his accomplice, one Uzohu livingstone, a 51-year-old man at Owerri and the recovery of the two robbed vehicles by the Police.
Chikwe and his gang had robbed one Paul Onyili and Engr Nnamdi Onyili of their cars, Range Rover sports with Registration number; Lagos: MUS 644 BB, and a Hilux Jeep with Registration number: Lagos LND 685 EW.
Umar also paraded three 18 and 19 year-old boys, Oluchukwu Nwajide, Chukwuebuka Ugwu and Kosisochukwu Nwacho who stole a male child aged 5years of Agbon village, Nnobi and were arrested at Nnokwa Community in Idemili South LGA Anambra State. Umar added that the little boy was rescued in good health and reunited to his family
Other suspects paraded by the police include armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists.
Umar said investigations were still on, and the suspects would be charged to court soon.
