RIP......Corper burnt in Akwa Ibom car accident buried few weeks to passing out in Imo (photos)

The remains of Ngozi Onyekwere a Youth corps member was laid to rest amidst tears in her home town in Imo state.

The late Ngozi an Accounting graduate from the University of Port Harcourt, died in a road accident at Uyo on June 23, at the age of 26. Her vehicle, a Toyota Camry suddenly caught fire, leaving the late Ngozi burnt beyond recognition while the driver of the vehicle and the commuter at the front sit reportedly escaped.

She was meant to pass out from the NYSC scheme next month. She was returning from the government house where she was posted when the crash occurred.

During his speech at the funeral, the representative of the Director General of the NYSC, Reverend
Akinolu Ajayi, described the death of the late Ngozi as shocking and painful to the NYSC.
His words:

“It is very painful that death struck when Onyekwere was serving her nation, just two months to her passing out of the scheme.”

On her part, the Coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa Ibom state, Mrs Ngozi Chukwuka, described the late Ngozi as a diligent corps member, adding that her posting to the government house was based on merit. Eulogizing Ngozi, she said:
“When the Akwa Ibom State Government House asked for three corps members who studied Accounting, Ngozi was among the three that scaled through out of the 38 graduates interviewed.
It is not the NYSC that caused her death. Her death during the NYSC programme was one of the vicissitudes of life. It is pertinent at this juncture to disclose that the NYSC bore all the expenses incurred for the burial of the deceased. It is our prayer that God grants her soul eternal repose.”
Eye witnesses at the accident scene said the Late Ngozi was dressed in her NYSC unifrom when the accident occurred.
