Orji Kalu urges Buhari to “immediately remove” fuel subsidy

Orji Kalu
Hehhe...Former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has joined the campaign for the total removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria.
Kalu, in an interview on CNN’s Quest Means Business, said he considered such move as a priority for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He noted that total removal of subsidy would make available petroleum products at all times as well as allow for active private sector participation.

“As a businessman and Chairman Slok Holdings, which is a major shipping line in Sub-Saharan Africa, what I will like to see from the new president immediately is to remove the subsidy on petroleum products, and I think he should act quickly on it,” he said.
“He should remove subsidy totally on petroleum products so that people can build refineries.
“People should be able to do business in the oil sector in Nigeria.”
He observed that corruption is a big challenge which has eaten deep into every fabric of all facets of Nigeria and advised that it is fought in a holistic way.
“It has to be something that must be started from Day One. It must involve re-orientation of our people and cultural re-orientation. And Frankly, corruption could be fought and we have to fight head on if we really want to succeed.
“There is a lot of corruption in the petroleum business, a lot of corruption in most aspects of our national life, it is not only the people in government, the system itself is corrupted,” Kalu added.
