Hmmm..na wa ooo...There was
confusion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on
Wednesday afternoon after a fire incident that resulted in a heavy smoke
engulfed the E-Arrival Wing of the terminal, forcing travellers to
scamper for safety.
It was
learnt that the incident disrupted flight activities and triggered panic
among passengers as they hurriedly ran out of the international
terminal.
Fire
fighters and aviation security officials were immediately deployed to
the wing where the incident occurred, as hundreds of passengers and
airport workers all gathered outside the terminal waiting anxiously for
the situation to be addressed.
Although the
cause of the fire and smoke could not be ascertained up till the time
of filing this report, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria stated
that it was quickly traced to some offices at the E-Wing on the ground
floor of the terminal by a combined team of FAAN’s electrical engineers
and fire officers.
Our
correspondent gathered that the situation was however controlled by the
airport authority and passengers were encouraged to move in back into
the terminal to be cleared for their flights...
