DSHA set up a four-man committee on Tuesday following a motion under matters of urgent public importance by the Chairman, House Committee on Lands, Survey and Urban Development, Hon. Martin Okonta.
This may not be unconnected with the plethora of complaints and petitions from Deltans on irregularities in the allocation of plots of land in the state particularly in Asaba.
The ad hoc committee has one week to submit its report to the house.
The motion which was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Johnson Erijo, was adopted when put to a voice vote as no member voted against.
The Speaker thereafter directed the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development, the Surveyor- General of the state and Director of Lands to submit all relevant documents relating to the allocation of lands in the state within the last four years to the committee on or before Friday.
Hon. Sam Obi (Ika North East) is the chairman of the ad hoc committee with Okonta (Ika South), Joseph Oshevire (Ethiope Eas)t, Pat Ajudua (Oshimili North) and Oboro Preyor (Bomadi) are members, while the Secretary, House Committee on Lands, Survey and Urban Development, Miss Judith Nwaka, would serve as secretary.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Johnson Erijo, said the house has received complaints and petitions from Deltans on irregularities in the allocation of plots of land in the state.
He said that the house owns the people the responsibility to look into such complaints and petitions.
He said that the committee as constituted by the state legislature would come up with recommendations to respond to needs and aspirations of Deltans.
