*Outcome of Courtesy Visit to the Governor of Delta State*
The Delta State NAGGMDP Chairman, Dr Iyasele Joseph Okwuolisa and some leaders of Delta State Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) yesterday 2nd September, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
*Key Outcomes:*
- *Manpower Shortage*: The Governor reiterated his commitment to replacing healthcare workers who have left the service, directing the HCH to bring requests for prompt approval.
- *13 Months' Revised CONMESS Arrears*: The Governor promised to address this issue shortly, mandating the HCH to expedite action
- *Consequential Adjustment of Minimum Wage*: The Governor directed the Head of Service (HOS) to address this matter.
- *New Salary Scale for Doctors*: A proposal for a new and improved salary scale, backed by evidence of implementation in other states, was presented for the Governor's consideration. The Governor directed the HOS and HCH to look into it and come up with something feasible
- *Doctors' Housing Scheme*: The Governor promised to explore this initiative.
- *Tax Rebate for Doctors*: On the Tax Rebate for FMC Asaba doctors, NMA requested for a reminder letter from the office of the HOs, Delta State on the circular, addressed to IPPIS, FIRS, and the accountant general of the Federation. NMA drew the attention of the state governor to such previous correspondences dated 2022.
- *DTNMA House and Bus*: The Governor promised a new bus and support for furnishing the NMA house and landscaping
- *Accoutrement Allowance*: The Governor was presented with a proposal for adoption and payment.
- *Increase in Retirement Age*: The issue of increasing the retirement age for medical doctors was discussed.
- *Wrong Step Placement*: The Governor's attention was drawn to incorrect step placement of medical doctors after promotion. The HOS was directed to look into it
- *Medical Residency Training Fund*: The Governor was urged to domesticate the Medical Residency Training Fund in the Medical Residency Training Act.
