3. Some Of The Governors Are Not Mentally Okay When You Give Them Power – Ubani

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Monday Ubani, has submitted that the best way to tackle insecurity in Nigeria is to have a functional local government administration.

He added that the idea of creating a state police outfit must also be allowed to see the light of day.

According to Ubani, while he agrees that some state governors may have a tendency to abuse state police structures under their watch, legal frameworks must be built into the establishment to prevent such abuse.

Ubani made the submissions as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday.

He stressed that insecurity can only be effectively addressed at the local level.

This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, following a decision reached by the National Working Committee (NWC) after investigations into El-Rufai’s alleged false membership claims and political manoeuvres.

According to Aiyenigba, El-Rufai never formally registered with the party at his ward level as required by the SDP constitution but went ahead to falsely announce on social media that he had joined the party.

“He further forged documents claiming membership and staged photo opportunities with suspended party leaders to reinforce this falsehood,” Aiyenigba said.

The party accused El-Rufai of gross indiscipline, misinformation, inducement, and manipulation, actions that it said had fueled internal divisions and threatened the SDP’s unity and ideological integrity.

The SDP further claimed that El-Rufai had publicly aligned himself with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while simultaneously attempting to drag the SDP into an unapproved political coalition, undermining party principles.
