Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has dropped striker, Romelu Lukaku from his squad to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Athletic reports that the German took the decision having been angered by Lukaku’s interview earlier this week.
The striker had said he was not happy playing in the current system at Chelsea under Tuchel. He also said he wanted to return to Inter Milan.
In the interview, Lukaku also said he never wanted to return to Chelsea, adding that the west London club was only but his fourth choice.
‘Tuchel has chosen to play with another system – I won’t give up, I’ll be professional,” he said partly.
The Athletic reports now that Lukaku has not been included in Chelsea’s squad for Liverpool’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Chelsea hopes to beat Liverpool on Sunday to keep their title after Manchester City opened 11 points when they beat Arsenal on Saturday.
Liverpool is a point behind Chelsea in third place but has played one game less than the west London club.
Lukaku scored in his last two appearances but went seven games without finding the net before his ankle injury in October.
