The Federal Government has warned medical doctors and health practitioners against unauthorised treatment of coronavirus patients.
Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Minister for Health issued the warning during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 daily briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
Ehanire explained that the warning was necessary in order to reduce the rate at which health workers and medical doctors were contracting the disease.
“All healthcare professionals and associated personnel should diligently follow safety infection prevention and control protocols – both inside and outside healthcare facilities, and not to indulge in unauthorised treatment of COVID-19 cases.”
The minister also assured that the federal government was committed to increasing its capacity for testing for the virus across Nigeria.
“21 laboratories nationwide are now operational for COVID-19 testing as we work to drive up demands, ” he added.
