Early this morning, when the traders who conduct business activities in the complex arrived for work, they realized the gate to the complex had been locked by the Lagos state government and they were not given a reason for this.
As the hours passed and the gates remained locked, traders began a peaceful protest, They carried placards and marched around the area, singing.
The gates of the complex were eventually opened in the afternoon and traders were able to resume their activities for the day.
Traders who spoke to LIB said they were not given any good reason why they were not allowed into their shops early on a Monday morning.
There were a number of speculations as to the reason why the complex was locked without prior notice, but nothing concrete.
As they waited outside the Trade Fair Complex, traders carried out a protest with placards as they asked to be allowed into their shops to conduct business for the day.
