A fake doctor has been arrested for allegedly carrying out unauthorized medical diagnosis and treatment on patients in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The suspect, Ifetayo Olowolayemo was arrested by the task force officials of the Ondo State Ministry of Health during a monitoring exercise in the state.
He was alleged to have been admitting patients under the guise of operating a patent medicine store called, “Olowolayemo Excel Patent Medicine Store,” in Akure.
Some of his activities were carrying out unauthorized medical activities, such as administering drips, transfusion of blood, injecting unsuspecting patients with banned injections as well as disposal of medical wastes without following proper procedure, among others.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro told journalists while parading the suspect that controlled and banned drugs, and injections as Enagin were found in his possession.
Adegbenro said the state would not relent but to ensure that residents are safe from quacks and fake drugs dealers who operate under the cloak of patent medicine dealer.
He also added that vowed to deal decisively with quarks, fake and counterfeit drug dealers operating hospitals under the guise of Patient Medicine Store and endangering the lives of residents in the state.
