DID HE SAY THAT ? "We can't all be specialists. Some will be farmers" - Health Minister says not all medical graduates must practice

"We can
Minister of Health, Isaac Adeowole, has said that not all medical graduates in Nigeria must practice. He said this while responding to a question he was asked by journalists at a function recently.

According to the Minister of Health, not everyone who is practising would end up as aspecialist. He said some medical doctors would end up as farmers, fashion designers, others.
Watch a clip of him speaking below

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Isaac Adeowole, who responded to questions from journalists at an event recently, stated that not all medical graduates must practice.

Health Minister, Isaac Adewole, who was asked what he was doing to resolve the problem doctors have getting into residency programmes, replied by saying not all medical graduates will turn out to become specialists as some might even become farmers. Here is the video below;
Q: what are going to do to resolve the problems Drs have getting into residency programmes?

Minister of Health: We can't all be specialists. Some will be farmers, some will be tailors. My gown maker was a doctor. He makes the best gowns.

I am so confused.

This same Isaac Adewole was minister during the JOHESU strike & he brought this nonchalant attitude to negotiations that caused the strike to persist for weeks. It took @bukolasaraki‘s intervention to end the strike & get staff back to work at public hospitals.
It is attitude like this that stunts Nigeria’s human capital development & ensures we don’t bring the best out of our citizens. It is attitudes like these that has contributed to making Nigeria the poverty capital of the world.

I’ve been raising alarm about Isaac Adewole as Minister of Health for 3 years now, you people said nothing. Now he wants graduates of medicine to go into farming and tailoring, you people are now shouting. That man doesn’t sound like someone who should be allowed near a clinic

What Isaac Adewole doesn’t know is that Nigerian doctors have embraced sanity in the US, UK and Canada and the era of doctors becoming tailors and farmers in Nigeria because his generation messed everything up has long passed. We have choices now.
