Maina speaks from hideout, reveals what must be done for him to come out

hehehehe...............Abdulrasheed Maina, embattled former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, has signified interest to appear before the House of Representatives if his security is guaranteed.
The former Pension boss said he was ready to appear before the committee and provide more details on the controversy that led to his sack if lawmakers can ensure that no security agency arrests or harasses him.

He said this through his lawyer, Mohammed Sani Katu on Thursday during the committee’s investigative hearing into his reinstatement back into the Civil Service.
He said, “We ask that you give Maina protection so that no security agency will interfere or arrest him so that he’ll appear in person.
“If that is done, we can assure you that Maina will come. We want you to give Maina a cover to appear.”
Katu had earlier insisted that his client was still on the payroll of the Federal Government.
Maina is currently on the run for allegedly committing fraud to the tune of N2.1 billion while in office.
Despite been declared wanted, reports had it that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami had directed the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to reinstate Maina.
Displeased by the report, President Muhammadu Buhari had in October ordered the immediate disengagement of Maina.

#Mainagate: AGF Malami, Head of Service & Minister of Interior all deny reinstating wanted ex-pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, Head of Service Winifred Oyo-Ita and Minister of Interior Affairs, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, have all denied ordering the reinstatement of fugitive former chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.
At a public hearing at the House of Representatives yesterday, Malami told the lawmakers investigating Maina's controversial reinstatement that the letter for Maina's reinstatement was not issued by him as the reinstatement of Maina was still in progress before the letter was released to him. Malami who told the Senate last week that he met with Maina in Dubai sometime last year, told the House panel that Maina gave useful information on pension fraud to his office which was shared with security agencies and this has led to the discovery of billions of looted pension funds and physical assets.
Giving her own statement the Head of Service said that she decided to hold on to the letter for Maina's recall because she believed that reinstating such a man would have a negative impact on the anti-corruption fight of the Buhari-led administration.
"I decided to hold on to the letter and without giving an order for reinstatement, the Ministry of Interior decided to reinstate him which we got to hear in the media. I still have the originals of the letters with me, and there was no time I issued any order for Maina's reinstatement. And normally, there is no civil servant that can be reinstated without the express directive of the Head of Service " she said
The Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Danbazzau denied having any role in the reinstatement of Maina whose office is under his Ministry.
"My role as minister was on a policy matter that has to do with public safety and internal security and also chair anything that has to do with board that establishes prison, Immigration civil defense and Federal fire service" he stated.
‎However, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior,  Engineer Magaji who allegedly carried out the said reinstatement of Maina was nowhere to be seen at the hearing. Danbazzau told the panel that Magaji went on a sick leave and will be back soon.
The acting Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Joseph Oluremi told the panel that the office of the Attorney General of the Federation initiated the letter and that it was subsequently acted upon by the Ministry of Interior and made the recommendation of his reinstatement.
"The delivery of the letter is the duty of the Head of Service and if the letter has not been delivered it means Maina has not been reinstated. That is the only letter Maina will take to the Head of Service and the HoS will process it. "It is either to post him back to the ministry of interior or to another ministry. For the Ministry of interior to use that letter informing them as letter of reinstatement is wrong" Oluremi said
Also speaking at the hearing the representative of Inspector General of Police, DIG Valentine Toochukwu denied the involvement of Nigeria police providing security protection for Maina adding that they don't know anything about his disappearance and reappearance and promotion.
The chairman of the committee, Hon. Aliu Madaki Sani adjourned the proceedings until November 30th and asked the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior to appear before it unfailingly.

A shocking revelation was made at the House of Representatives hearing into the recall, reinstatement, and promotion of wanted former chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina, yesterday November 23rd. The house set up a panel to look into Maina's recall last month following a public outcry when the fugitive former pension boss was reinstated into the civil service in very controversial circumstances. President Buhari ordered for his dismissal immediately after the news broke online. Maina was dismissed from office in 2013 and declared wanted by the EFCC and INTERPOL for carrying out N2.1 billion fraud while he was in office.
While being questioned, Maina's lawyer, Mohammed Katu, told the lawmakers that his client has been receiving his salaries despite being sacked for years.
When asked by lawmakers if Mr. Maina was still getting paid, he said, “Yes. Maina continued to work even after his dismissal. As at last month, about 23 files were sent to him, in his capacity as acting director…even while he was absent.
“On the issue of his disappearance, he had to disappear because there was so much threats to his life. On the issue of his dismissal from service, which came up in 2013, we have documents to say here that even after he was allegedly sacked, he still wrote letters to the then president, finance minister, and the rest, which they acted on. I can tell you that about 23 files were sent to Maina even as at last few months to treat in his capacity as acting director, even after the purported dismissal. Another matter was that whether those that sacked him had powers to do so. When his lawyers realized that there was a process of sacking him, they wrote a letter to the commission that he filed a case in court against that. His letter wasn’t complied with,” the lawyer said
