hehehehe...Child adoption is not totally embraced
in some parts of the country due to different religious and traditional
beliefs. However, with new awareness, some Nigerians have seen it as a
means of bringing succour to barren couples and motherless children. If
they had no child after several years in marriage, Fidelis Chidi blog asked
some Nigerians whether they could opt for adoption
With adoption, no woman is barren again – Olasanoye Mercy
Adoption gives a childless couple an
opportunity to normalise their relationship. With this, the couple
should no more consider themselves barren as they now have a child to
show love and care for. Adoption erases a woman’s sorrow and makes her
to stop worrying about not having a child. Ditto for the man. Sometimes
when couples adopt a child, God might give a yes to their long-term
prayer and bless the marriage with their own child.
Yes, I would- Jolaoso Eniola
Yes, I would adopt a child. It is better
than not having any child at home to disturb me. My belief is that if I
adopt a child, it does not mean that I wouldn’t have mine later in
life. All it requires is patience.
I’d wait till I get mine – Iniobona Ukpe
I don’t subscribe to adoption because I
strongly believe in God. I have seen miracles happen to people. Why
adopt a child when God will do it for me at His perfect time? I believe
all things work perfectly for those who wait on God. So I will wait for
His time, which is always the best.

I would adopt – Ogunsan Maryjane
Of course, I would accept it. A child is
a child, whether they are given birth to by one or another person.
Every child deserves love and care. Sometimes, one can’t tell if it’s
the adopted child that would bring good fortune to one’s home. I also
see adoption as a means of helping the motherless babies and giving them
a future.
No adoption, I’d wait on God – Kunle Arowosade
As Christians, my wife and I would wait
on God’s time to give us our own child. We would keep waiting until the
day finally comes. If we are not dead, there is hope. What if one
adopted a child and one later had his own child? However, maybe after
we’ve prayed and done everything we could and there’s still no child, we
might consider adoption.
Adoption isn’t that easy – Fawehinmi Tolulope
Before one could think of adoption, it
must have got to the extent where one couldn’t wait anymore. Adoption is
not that easy to opt for, considering the society we are in. People
could start making mockery of one. But in a situation where a couple
have waited for long, then adoption could be the best thing to do.
If you truly love your spouse, adopt – Ojeniyi Solomon
Some couples divorce themselves due to
childlessness, but it’s a bad idea. If a childless couple truly love
themselves, the best thing is to go for adoption. The adopted child
could even bring more blessings to the family and they could have their
own child in the future.
All children are from God – Oyeneyin Emmanuel
Even if I had my own children, I would still go for adoption. All children are from God. Whether one gave birth to them or not, one should take good care of all of them. I believe a childless couple could live a happy life by going for adoption rather than weep all the day of their lives.
Adoption is not a bad idea – Olamide Abiodun
I think adoption is not a bad idea, even
couples with children still adopt. The children in the orphanage homes
too need love and care, if they are adopted, the childless couples will
have hope for carrying their own children soon. But it depends on both
couples.
