The Medical and Dental Council of
Nigeria has threatened to de-register any erring medical practitioner
who engages in unprofessional conducts.
Registrar
of the council, Mr. Abdulmumini Ibrahim, gave the warning during the
induction of 53 medical graduates of the University of Ilorin College of
Health Sciences.
In
his message titled “Life and Death” delivered at the 33rd professional
initiation and admission ceremony, the registrar who was represented by
Dr. Zinat Saadu, said the council had observed that some medical
practitioners now register clinics for non practitioners where they
engaged in unethical practices that put patients lives at jeopardy
He
said though the MDCN as a body was meant to regulate practices and
discipline erring medical professionals, it is however” painful when we
need to discipline our colleagues because in the first place you should
not be found wanting.
