UBTH NANNM Extends Ultimatum by Seven Days, Threaten Indefinite Strike Action

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives chapter of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital has once again shown maturity and displayed magnamosity in its bid to fight the injustice against the Nurses by the UBTH Management.

You would recall that the UBTH NANNM had earlier issued the management a 14Day Ultimatum to meet their 6 point demands. The ultimatum was set to elapse on the 19th of November 2015 culminating in an indefinite strike action. But the UBTH NANNM Executives arising from a congress meeting held on the 17th of november had deemed it fit and resolved to extend the ultimatum by one week

In a letter to the UBTH Management cojointly signed by Com osigbeme Augustine (Chairman) and Com Owenaze Austine (secretary), the union wrote:

We hereby use this medium to notify the management that Nurses at a Congress held on the 17th of November 2015 resolved as follows:

(1) The payment of one year uniform allowance out of Eight years owed is unacceptable.

(2) The agreement reached with the executives to pay one year & on installment is unacceptable.

(3) Congress wish to state that the minimum acceptable is 3 years payment in full,

The congress also wish to state that all other issues contained in the attached letter which was earlier submitted to management should be given prompt attention on or before 26th November 2015, Failing which the union will have no option but to embark on an indefinite strike action.

The executive however wish to apologise for any inconveniences this might cause the management.
