It also directed all private schools in the country to comply.
This
decision was reached at the end of a meeting between the Minister of
Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and States’ Commissioners of
Education, managements of the National Universities Commission, National
Board for Technical Educations and other stakeholders in the education
sector.
The meeting was held in Abuja.
The
announcement was made to allay what the Minister said were unfounded
fears and rumours of security threats during the elections.
Parents and guardians are, however, wary of allowing their wards remain in schools during the polls.
But Shekarau assured that the Federal Government had put in place adequate measures to ensure safety of schools at all levels.
