Hehehe....A New Year message to Nigeria’s youth from Muhammadu Buhari...See him
...and here's Gen. Buhari's New Year message to Nigerian youths...
As we welcome the year 2015, I have shared a message to Nigerians in general, but I find it crucial to send another message directly to Nigeria’s youth, who are the major stakeholders of this enterprise.
The year 2014 was a challenging one for most citizens of our dear country.
We remember our compatriots who were brutishly killed
or maimed by evil terrorists in 2014. I remember with a still broken heart that
219 of our children from Chibok are yet missing, let down by a country that
should protect them. I remember that, even as I speak, some of our towns and
villages are yet under the occupation of Boko Haram.
Yes, it is enough for you to despair. It is enough for
you to wonder if your country cares about you and can protect you. But do not
despair.
2015 has arrived at a time of great discomfort; but the
beauty of the New Year is that we can look forward with renewed hope and the knowledge
that things can and will change.
In Nigeria’s case, we can truly look forward to the
change that the elections can, and will, bring. Our country will be secure
again. Our country will prosper again.
I have faith that 2015 is the year we shall begin to
write a new story - a story of our youth creating jobs and expanding the
frontiers of innovation and creativity everywhere from Mavin Records to the
Co-Creation Hub; a story of genuine investment in our children and students be
they in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka or in the Delta State University,
Abraka; a country that finally makes a permanent shift from our debilitating dependence
on the free-falling price of crude oil.
I have unshakeable faith that 2015 will be the year of
change.
Now some of you have asked me: what exactly does
‘change’ mean?
I have taken time to explain this at different
opportunities, but on this special day, let me remind you in five short
statements.
Change means:
1.
A country that you can be proud of at
anytime and anywhere: where corruption is tackled, where your leaders are
disciplined and lead with vision and clarity; where the stories that emerge to
the world from us are full of hope and progress.
2.
A Nigeria in which neither yourselves, nor
your parents, families or friends will have to fear for your safety, or for theirs.
3.
A Nigeria where citizens get the basics
that any country should provide: infrastructure that works, healthcare that is
affordable, even free; respect for the environment and sustainable development,
education that is competitive and outcome-oriented in a knowledge-economy.
4.
A country that provides jobs for its young
people, reducing unemployment to the lowest of single digits and providing
safety nets so that no one is left behind.
5.
A Nigeria where entrepreneurship thrives,
enterprise flourishes and the government gets out of your way so that you can
create value, build the economy and aggressively expand wealth.
Are
these things truly possible? Of course. That is the essence and outcome of
leadership, and that is what my party and I promise you as we get into 2015.
My dear friends, this New Year, more than ever before,
I am hopeful about Nigeria.
Yes,
you are disappointed and you are angry, as you are entitled to, but you must never
give in to the temptation to feel so weighed down by those who have failed you
that you lose your hope and your energy and your passion to see change. You must
never give up on Nigeria.
Together,
we can build a nation that is secure, prosperous and gives everyone a fair
chance.
This
is the promise that 2015 holds. That is the promise that change will bring. That
is the promise that I bring to you.
Once again, I wish everyone a happy and prosperous New
Year.
Thank you and God bless Nigeria.

Oh dear...AirAsia flight found upside down at the bottom of the sea, passengers found holding hands
Lieutenant Airman Tri Wobowo, who was co-piloting Indonesia's C130 Herclues aircraft, was the first to discover debris from the plane and witnessed the tragic scene.
'There were seven to eight people. Three of them held hands,' he told a local newspaper.
A plane door, a blue suitcase, oxygen tank and the remnants of an emergency slide were among the objects found about 10km from where the plane was last detected on radar. But the most harrowing discoveries were the corpses floating in the Java Sea - about 100 miles off the coast - and search chiefs fully expect none of the 162 passengers and crew on board made it out of the wreckage alive.

Pandemonium as fire razes shops in Ondo...What is happening sef
This state is getting in the news daily these dys......Odosida Area, in Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State, was thrown into pandemonium in the early hours of Tuesday as some shops and a private secondary secondary school, located in the area was razed down by fire.
The inferno, which was said to have started at about 6: am, resulted in the destruction of personal property and some vital documents owned by the affected school.
However, no life was lost in the incident.
Although the cause of the fire is still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, speculations are rife that the fire occurred shortly after some group of boys who drove in a Toyota Camry, stormed the area with dangerous weapons at about 5am, setting the place ablaze.
It was reliably gathered that the hoodlums, had blocked the major road in the street, shot sporadically and set the shop ablaze.
The hoodlums were said to have been led by one boy, who engaged in an argument with his brother, identified as Rotimi, over the property of their late father.
However, it was further learnt that the hoodlums, had earlier broken into a bear pallour in the area and brought out bear and liquor for people to drink, before setting the shops ablaze.
Items said to have been destroyed by the ferocious fire, which lasted for nearly three hours included dresses, documents, items of electronics, mattresses, food stuff, furnishing equipment, cake, dressing materials, traditional dresses, shoes, among others.
When fidelis chidi blog correspondent arrived at the scene of the incident, officials of the Ondo State fire service were seen making frantic effort to quench the fire.
Similarly, some youths, mainly Okada riders and other residents of the area were also sighted assisting the fire officers in an attempt at salvaging some personal effects of the victims.
Some victims of the fire incident, including the Principal of the affected school, who gave his name as Nelson Akinkuade, lamented that he lost several documents in the fire.
Speaking on the incident, one of the eye witnesses, who claimed to be a resident of the area, Mrs Shola Osayindoro, said she was informed about the incident about 6: 30am by one of the parents of the school children.
She added that when she got to the place, flame of fire was sighted from the roof of the school building.
Similarly, one of the eye witnesses, who craved anonymity, said an argument had ensued two days ago between one Mr Rotimi, who is also one of the shop owners in the place, and his brother.
He called on the security operatives in the area to investigate the matter and
bring the culprits to book.
In an interview with one of the victims, Mrs. Kikelomo Akinbobola, whose shop was gutted by the fire, she described the incident as sad.
She explained that some group of boys had stormed the place two days ago and threatened to set one of the shops ablaze.
When contacted on the matter, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Enuowa police station in Ondo town, Mr. Emmanuel Adesina, a Chief Superintendent of Police, confirmed the report of the inciden
He explained further that two suspects, who were arrested by the police, were still in custody.

"I always say that I will not even expect praises now because hardly do people praise serving leaders. It is when you leave, people will begin to know. When you leave, people will begin to compare what you have done over the period vis-a-vis what others have done, then they will compare you with whoever takes over.Probably that is the time some people will begin to say good about you. But I will do my best to make sure that we do change things. We are trying to create enabling environment for our economy to thrive irrespective of the challenges we are having in the petroleum sector and the security challenges we have. I will do my best so that by the time I will leave, you will be able to say that when our son was there, he served the country well so that one day, another son of Bayelsa may be given another opportunity to serve Nigerians", he said

Kali Gwegwe: Pastor Osinbajo – Giving Christianity a bad name
I have deep respect for pastors not necessarily because I am a Christian. I do so because they are Messengers of God. Nevertheless, truth is just. Truth is correctional. It does not cover up errors or weaknesses. These are the fundamental basis for this piece. It has no political undertone.
Following his nomination as the running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential flag bearer of APC in the February 14 polls; Pastor Yemi Osibanjo has been seen riding in public buses and having two-way engagements with the downtrodden. This is traditionally what is expected of Servants of God.
Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is probably among the legion of Christian leaders that criticize Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) for screening his works of charity on Emmanuel TV. They have deliberately refused to acknowledge the fact that T.B. Joshua is simply following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ to show love and compassion for the less privileged. It is owing to his deep understanding of Scriptures that the General Overseer of SCOAN caters for the poor, weak, sick, neglected, rejected, and vulnerable in society.
It was therefore curious that Pastor Yemi Osibanjo suddenly realized the important position the downtrodden occupy in society and in the heart of God. In all his years as pastor, Yemi Osibanjo has never been highlighted in the media preaching the Gospel in public buses or taking the message of salvation to personally and directly to the downtrodden. Only God knows how many souls he would have won for Christ if he done so. Many Christians were therefore shocked that he could do the unusual because of political power.
My worry is this: Pastor Yemi Osibanjo has sent out a wrong message to the larger society. He has indeed succeeded in making people believe that POLITICS- NOT CHRISTIANITY CAN HELP BRING OUT THE BEST IN MEN. It is sad that desire for political power is what is making him to do what he could not do as a pastor. This is not good for the Christian faith.
This piece does not seek to crucify Pastor Yemi Osibanjo. Rather, it is a challenge to all Christians to live up to their callings. Christianity is the pillar of hope for the hopeless, shelter for the vulnerable, and balm for the wounded. Christianity has no season. I just hope that Pastor Yemi Osibanjo will never stop riding in public buses and spending quality time with the downtrodden whether he wins or loses in the February 14, 2015 polls.
For those who will rush to accuse me of judging Pastor Yemi Osibanjo, I have a question for them: Is it right for us to hold our leaders accountable for their actions? Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is a Christian leader. What I have done is holding him responsible for his actions. More than that, it is written in Proverbs 27:17 that “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Like any other person, Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is my friend.

I Was Just Tired of Being Married....hehehe..see who is tired
All these whit people sef......Chris Rock filed for divorce from his wife of 19 years for one simple reason ... he wasn't happy in the marriage, sources directly connected to the couple tell TMZ.
One source says this will be a "simple divorce" and that there is no third party involved -- Chris just did not want to continue in a marriage that was not fulfilling.
Although our sources say the divorce won't be contentious ... obviously there is some bad blood. As TMZ previously reported ... Rock complained Malaak has been preventing him from seeing their 2 daughters -- and he is asking for shared legal and physical custody.
Malaak issued a statement making it seem like they jointly came to the decision to split -- but Chris' people fired back ... making it clear HE was the one who filed for divorce.

FG owes 70,000 workers three-month salaries
Na wa oooo.....No fewer than 70,000 civil servants
in 30 Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government
have yet to receive their three months’ salaries.
The Secretary-General of the Association
of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Mr. Alade Lawal, made this known
just as investigations by The Fidelis Chidi blog just revealed that states like Osun, Oyo, Benue and Plateau are owing their workers between three and four months’ salaries.
Prominent among the ministries listed by
Lawal during an interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja on
Monday are Education, Works, Labour and Productivity, Mines and Power.
He said, “About eight MDAs have been
owing workers their salaries from October. The number rose to 11 in
November and in December, hit 30, including departments and agencies.”
Asked what was responsible for the
increase in the number of MDAs indebted to their workers, Lawal said
some government officials involved in salary payments were engaged in a
game of deceit.
He said, “They are telling us that some
of the MDAs are involved in expenditure items different from salaries.
They said they were spending on items not related to salaries. But that
is not supposed to be the fault of the workers.
“There should be synergy in government
whereby they have to work in tandem with the Budget Office and Office of
the Accountant-General of the Federation. They know what they are
doing, they are muddling up the whole exercise and suffering workers
unnecessarily.”
He said the government had no tangible reason for not paying the workers, having promised to do so before December 24.
“As of December 22, they promised us
that before Wednesday, December 24, these payments would be made. But as
I am talking to you now, affected workers have not been paid.
“The Ministry of Works alone has about
26,000 workers. If you add them together, they can’t be less than 70,000
workers that are affected.
“We have been liaising with our people.
But you know, this is a festive period and it has affected some of the
trade union actions we intended taking. The promise that they made last
week which they also told the press that they would pay before
Christmas, we thought they were serious about it. But latest
developments indicate that they are deceiving us.”
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala, had in a statement by her Special Adviser on
Communication, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, on December 22 promised that the
salary arrears of civil servants in MDAs would be paid before Christmas.
The PUNCH gathered on Monday
that civil servants in states like Osun, Oyo, Benue, Plateau and Abia
had a bleak Christmas as they are being owed between two and four-month
salaries.
In Osun State for instance, the Chairman
of state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Saka Adesiyan, told
one of our correspondents in Osogbo that workers were being owed
October, November and December salaries.
The Public Relations Officer of the
Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mr. Boye Abolarin, also confirmed that
secondary school teachers were being owed October, November and
December salaries.
Abolarin said that workers were subjected to hardship while politicians were feeding fat especially during the Yuletide.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola, however, blamed the development on the dwindling monthly allocations to the state.
Aregbesola, in a statement made
available to our correspondent by his media aide, Semiu Okanlawon,
said, “Either at the federal or at the state level, where is it that
workers are being paid as and when due?
“We thought this situation will not last
long. That was why we used our strategic reserve to augment salaries for
one year. All our savings were spent on augmentation of salaries.”
In Oyo, the state NLC Chairman, Basiru
Alli, said that the November and December salaries of some workers
were being awaited.
He said, “I will not say that government
in the state is owing us, it is actually delaying payment of workers
salaries. As of now, not all workers have been paid November salaries.
Some are still waiting for theirs. We do not know when the December
salary will come.”
Asked what efforts the NLC was making to
ensure all the workers got paid, Alli said that they were told by the
government that dwindling allocations from the Federal Government were
responsible.
“We hold consultations with the
government from time to time and what we were told the last time was
that it was not a deliberate attempt to delay the salaries but due to
dwindling allocations, the state had to manage its resources.”
But the Special Adviser to Governor
Abiola Ajimobi on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said that all workers had
been paid November salaries.
He said, “The state government is
passionate about staff welfare. We are handicapped by the dwindling
allocations from the Federal Government. We have a wage bill of N4.9bn
but the allocation we have this month was N2.9bn. Last month, the state
got N3.1bn from the Federal Government. We are working hard to ensure
workers are paid the December salaries.”
The situation in Benue State is not better as the government is also currently owing three months’ salaries.
Before the Yuletide, the government
owed workers five months’ salaries but it paid two months’ salaries at
different intervals.
A civil servant, who pleaded anonymity told The PUNCH
that a day to Christmas, some of his colleagues received alert for one
month salary while on Monday, others received alert for their second
salary payment.
The civil servant explained that they could not enjoy the Yuletide due to the debts they had incurred.
He said, “What the state government paid to us was used to settle debts .
“Mind you, we from the mainstream civil
service are not on any industrial action but the state is currently
owing us three month-salaries. I can tell you that the situation is
worse for lecturers as they have been on half salaries for five months.”
Investigations by The PUNCH in
Abia State indicated that while civil servants in the ministries had
received their November and December salaries, their counterparts in
the parastatals were being owed some months .
The Chairman, NLC in the state,
Sylvanus Eye, said workers in the parastatals had not been paid November
and December salaries.
He added that teachers as well as council workers were also being owed arrears of two months.
The state leadership of NLC had about
three weeks ago picketed the office of the Accountant General over the
salary arrears of the parastatal workers and for allegedly witholding
check- off dues of the union.
When contacted, the Accountant General,
Gabriel Onyendilefu, said that “the function of payment is dependent on
available cash”.
He explained that in the past five
months, the state’s allocations from the federation accounts had been
dwindling following the constant fall in the price of crude oil.
In Kogi State, local governments’ workers complained that they only received half of their salaries for October and November.
They alleged that they still had some backlogs of salaries that were not fully paid.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, said the
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji
Abubakar Sadiq, had informed them that they would receive alert of their
December payment on Tuesday(today).
The NLC Chairman, Plateau State chapter,
Mr. Jibrin Bancir, told one of our correspondents that the government
was owing many workers four months arrears of salaries and leave
grants.
The worst hit are local government workers who have not been paid for about seven months.
Meanwhile, the NLC has directed its state
chapters to furnish it with actual state of affairs in connection with
the salary arrears.
Noting that it was criminal for any
government to owe workers their salaries, the NLC said it would take a
firm decision in a couple of days on the issue.
The General Secretary of the congress,
Mr. Peter Ozo-Eson, stated this in a telephone interview with one of our
correspondents in Ilorin on Monday.
He said, “We have not taken a firm
decision on what to do until we get actual information on which state,
what is owed, how many months and the actual amount from all the state
councils. We hope that within a couple of days, these reports would have
got to us and we would take a firm position on them.
“We would rely on the reports that we get
from our state chapters. We are asking our state to advise us on salary
payments and if there are debts. Based on that we are going to collate
take appropriate actions in relation to getting those salaries paid.
“We condemn any state government that is
owing arrears of salaries because the workers must be the first to be
paid before they start spending on any other issue.”
Ozo-Eson said it was worrisome that even the Federal Government was owing some categories of its workers for about three months.
He lamented that some state chapters of
the NLC did not give the national body a report on time that their
members were being owed.
He stated that payment of workers’ salaries should be made a priority.
The NLC secretary said, “For us, it is
criminal for any government not to pay workers’ salaries, accumulate
them over months while the governors and other political office holders
take their own salaries. Such is criminal. We are also aware that even
the Federal Government is owing some categories of civil servants their
salaries for over three months.
“This is extremely unacceptable. Whatever
is the reason for that! In the case of the Federal Government, they try
to explain it in terms of problems with migration to IPPIS system. We
think whatever is the logic, those salaries and arrears need to be
paid immediately.
“On state governments that are owing,
unfortunately some of the NLC chapters did not bring it to our notice
early enough for us to know that salaries are owed. If you owe a worker
salary for a month, you have no moral obligation to expect workers to
come and render any service.
“So to hear that there are states and
large number of them that are owing workers for two or three months is
completely unacceptable.”

Ronaldo wins Best Player of 2014 award...See him
He is doing well no doubt....Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed the Best Player of the Year prize, at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.
The Real Madrid forward has enjoyed a great year, leading the Spanish club to their 10th European title and breaking the record for number of goals scored in a single Champions League season.
Ronaldo is also the hot favourite to retain the Ballon d’Or prize for the second year in a row.
“I hope that it can be a good signal but I’m not worried about that,” Ronaldo said. “The people who vote know what they have to do. I just feel happy it’s one more trophy for my dedication and hard work.
“I want to say thank you to the people at Real Madrid, – the players, the coach – we had a fantastic season, we won four trophies and we are one of the best teams in the world.
“La Decima was a special moment as Real Madrid have looked forward to winning it.
“To win this award is one of the great pleasures, I am very proud.”
The Portugal captain also insisted there is no added pressure on his shoulders despite his standing in the game
“No, no pressure,” he added. “I don’t have pressure because things come naturally to me. I don’t have to show anything to anyone. I am happy, I do what I like, to play football, to score goals, to make assists and help show we [Real Madrid] are one of the best teams in the world.”

Hehehe...Alan Irvine sacked as West Brom manager
whats going on....The other time it was crystal palace coach......okooo.....West Brom have announced the departure of manager Alan Irvine.
The 56-year-old arrived at the Hawthorns just six months ago and leaves with the Baggies in 16th place in the Premier League.
Assistant head coach Rob Kelly and Keith Downing will take charge of the team for their New Year Day match against West Ham.
“We appointed Alan in the summer convinced that we had taken on one of the foremost coaches in the UK and nothing that has happened since then has altered our view,” West Brom’s technical director Terry Burton said.
“The individual progress of our players such as Craig Dawson and Saido Berahino are testament to that.
“But sadly that simply has not translated into results and they remain the ultimate currency of Alan’s position.
“Securing a sixth season in the Premier League is the over-riding target and sometimes unpleasant decisions have to be taken to serve that imperative.
“Alan has impressed everyone with his manner, dedication and diligence but he knows that results have simply not been good enough.
“We place on record our gratitude for his efforts and hold nothing but good wishes for his future endeavours. This was a decision taken with regret but sadly driven by necessity.”

Referee Anthony Taylor apologizes to Mourinho over Fabregas’ booking
okoooo......Referee
Anthony Taylor has said sorry to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, for
showing Cesc Fabregas a yellow card for diving, in their 1-1 draw at
Southampton on Sunday.
Fabregas went down under a challenge inside the box, but Taylor opted to book the midfielder for simulation instead of awarding a penalty.
However, it has now emerged that he apologized to Mourinho about the incident, before they both left St Mary’s.
It is unusual for an official to offer his apologies to a manager so soon after a match, but they are allowed to discuss decisions after a 30-minute ‘cooling-off period’.
The gesture did not seem to pacify the Portuguese manager, as he ranted afterwards about a campaign against Chelsea and also said Taylor would be ‘ashamed’ of his decision.

Why I did not submit my certificates to INEC – Buhari
Journalists, who were at the headquarters of INEC in Abuja, could not find Buhari’s academic qualifications unlike those of other presidential candidates, including President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Explaining the development in an affidavit he deposed before an Abuja High Court, Buhari said that all his certificates were with the Secretary, Military Board.
The affidavit was dated November 24, 2014 and was stamped and received by INEC on December 18, 2014.
Buhari, in the affidavit, said “I am the above-named person and deponent to this affidavit therein. All my academic qualifications documents as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary, Military Board, as of the time of presenting this affidavit.
“The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purpose. The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purposes.”
